put it this way - the EP Pro is a ski that I really think is ONLY meant to be skied in deep, soft snow. The HB is more verstaile due to its "all mountain" flex; it's capable of being skied at speed on the way back to the lift. The EP Pro is a total noodle - it would be an absolute blast in straight up pow conditions, but it could be a bit of a rollercoaster on the way back to the lift. I am bringing both skis into the shop for next year, but I think the EP is a bit more "niche-y" in its versatility.
just to clear things up, I have heard that the skis are actualy 5cm onger then they say they are so a 189 is really a 194, the 179 is a 184 and I have seen a pic of a catalog with a 169 in it hence the 174.
I want the 179's for deep pow days and some SFB's for all other days. I wish I hadnt just bought Madens last summer, but still, had a great season with them.
my bad - just looked at my K2 order form and they are offering a 169cm HB for this coming year - for sure. And yes, the skis do measure a bit longer than their length actually says - probably about 3-4cm, so the 169 would measure more like a 172-3cm - I think the reason they did this is due to all the rocker in the shovel. The skis are totally manageable for their length though.
the park city edit with pep and andy on the hellbents looks sick it looks like those skis can hold up in the park and not just in pow and at the end he butters on them and its sick
i suppose. they just take a few days to get used to, but they are so dope, and i would think a 169 is pretty short, but for a super short kid maybe that works... oh, and butters on them? ya, purely insane, they are the butter machines!
