Getting married?

Is anyone else realizing that all of their friends are getting married? I'm 20, and I just got invited to be the bridesmaid at my good friend BrittAshtons wedding. I have five other girlfriends who are married, all 18-21, and two who have KIDS. All of the girls' parent's are OK with it,(excpet for one, her parents disowned her. She was actually living with my family and eloped. it was awkward. They're all loaded, too, from places like Pebble Beach and Menlo-Atherton. As far as education, all but one of them went to school with me at Santa Catalina School (www.santacatalina.org) and are smart girls.
I've never even had a boydriend! WHAT IS GOING ON?!

Someone explain.

same here except all my friends aren't getting married! I feel like such a teenager and everyone's growing up. hell I still watch cartoons. oh well, back to fairly odd parents

uuggg I'm 25 been with my gf five years and probably buying a ring this summer, it's cool if you find someone you get along with. We live together but neither of us want kids for another few years.

Oh and for the thread starter if you have a hard time telling when guys are hitting on you here's a clue, when a guy comes up and starts talking to you.....he IS hitting on you.

ha it wasnt that wired we had been friends for a hell of a long time and like i said i would do anything for her.

the pre nup was not nessasary at all we both have our name on the apartment we rent, we both put in for our car, i dont really have any savings that i would be worried about,
so no real reason to why i would have 1

but back on topic...yeah im not getting married for at LEAST another 4-5 years. i plan on spending a lot of time with my potential husband before i know its the real deal.

EVERYONE! UPDATE! Today after my stupid horrible math class which i will be thrilled to get a C in, I was looking at the internship board. Hot Guy With the Hat came up to me and started talking to me. He's really hot. Then he invited me out this weekend and got my number.
THERE IS HOPE!

Anyway, I also found out more about the wedding I'm going to be in. Turns out Brit has only known this guy for 4 or 5 months. They live in LA together, her parents are in total support, the budget for her wedding is $100,000 and they're getting married in April 08. To be honest with you, I don't think the wedding will happen. 4 or 5 months? out of control.
Also, $100,000. Shit, son.

Whoever said getting rid of your engagement is easier than getting rid of your marriage, well, look at it from an emotinal standpoint, you get engaged to be married someday, so it sounds pretty damn stupid to get engaged at, what, say sixteen years of age like many people at my high school did, then only a handful of those couples went through with it and are now (happily?) married, and everyone else just broke their engagement. If you're not in it for real, don't do stupid shit like get engaged "just because".

I think its absurd to get married when your still in your teens or early 20's, or when its someone you've only been seeing for about a year. People don't really realize rhe magnitude of marriage, the fact that it's a huge life changing commitment, and that it has legally binding implications.

Is it really that hard for people to just enjoy spending time with eachother without adding complications like that?

To me, its strange that that many of your friends are already in that situation. I don't personally know anyone under the age of 24 who even has the idea on thier mind... thier too busy getting thier lives going.

the truth of the matter..

is that if you really love someone and the time is right, why not get married?

Im 22, my girlfriend is 26, we talk about marriage but not doing it just yet, just waiting till we are both graduated and rich haha!

I dislike the idea of weddings in general, but expensive weddings take the cake... with that money you could put a down payment on a house, buy a car, save for the future etc..

well I have a girly side because I like some girly things... and I have long hair... but other than that I guess you could say I'm somewhat of a tomboy.
but just to set the record straight, I'm straight.

I dunno eloping or "forgetting" to get married and just living commonlaw seems much more sensible nowadays
