Is this too many mods for a car?

My family is looking to buy a new car and my dad is saying no to this ridiculous deal because the car has "too many mods" done to it and it would mess up the warranty. Is he right or are they not that bad? plz help.

usually any mod to a car does depreciate the value. i dont know about warrent but it would make sense.

That thing has most likely been launched many times and generally shat upon by its previous owner. If it is for your family, your mom and dad will probably not have a very good time driving it.

In addition, it has no warranty anymore, and I think you could probably find an equivalent car with no mods in the same price range.

yeah its not always the best thing. However, my friend just got a jazz blue 20th with a chip, DV, and CAI, and godDAMN its a sick car, super good quality, and a vw said that had it not been chipped, it would be classified as a certified used car.

that car was probably used hard, so expect to replace normal parts much sooner, and im guessing the clutch will need replacing 10-20,000 miles earier than you normally do.

I'd be cautious about it.  I doubt you would get any sort of warranty help with any problem it would have.  The big red flag for me, however, is the clutch.  Not only would that be a bitch in traffic, but it has undoubtedly been driven hard if the owner needed something like that.  It would definitely be a fun car and you should go check it out for fun, but I would be wary.

Exactly, that clutch is going to be less gradual and more on/off which will be a huge bitch in traffic.

It could be a great car that's been treated with incredible care by its previous owner. I guess what I would try to do would be to meet the guy who's been driving it, that would probably give you a pretty good sense of how responsible he would be.

But as a rule I wouldn't buy a modded car. There's really no reason to- they have no warranty, they have probably been driven hard, and you open yourself up to a lot of engine problems down the road because so many parts aren't stock.

The blow-off valve (BOV) especially is a bad idea... they are well-known to richen your mixture on shifts, which equals engine troubles down the road.

it just really depends on who installed it, if its from someone you can trust did a good job, then go for it. Sometimes you can get into trouble because a retard did the mods, and occasionally they fuck up. Its a pretty good deal especially if you were going to do some of those mods anyway.

thats not that many mods, and they all make sense, after gettin that thing stock you would want to do alot of that yourself anyways, i would say goo price for good quality mods and a great car, plus it got low miles, i say it works really well

stage 2 clutch on a family car would be a pain for your parents. but who knows, take a test drive and maybe they can handle it.

seems like it might have been driven pretty hard by the previous owner though

But, that said, I don't understand your post because gadgets like BOVs are engine modifications and can cause problems for your engine.

SOA can and will jerk you around if you try to make a legitimate warranty claim on a car that is 100% stock, so they will sure as hell do the same thing on a car that looks like it came straight out of 2fast 2furious.

This might be useful reference for everyone, but it won't always work this way unless you have a good lawyer, a lot of money, and some time to kill:

the 1st thing id do is lift up the carpet in the fron footwell and see if there are anty marks from where a roll cage would have been attached. if you see any, back away quickly
