Which in no way makes it better though. It's more of a stunt in my mind... pierre style. Jon's jump no one had a problem learning new tricks on it.... It looked pretty safe. I don't see people learning a switch double cork 14 on Big Bertha.... shit's a little absurd.
it's different. Candide's jump is so big you'd have to be going sooooooo fast to hit it it'd be next to impossible to pull off a decent trick let alone with any style. Not to mention if you take a bit of a fall it turns into total death cause you're going 100mph or so
Jon's jump was built to maximize airtime, fun, trickability and safety all at once. Candide's jjump is build to just be stupidly rediculously fucking HUGE. It was just different ideas behind the jumps.
Last year, Candide's jump was so big that it look like it hurt to land... I don't know what possessed him to make the exact same jump, just scaled up.
Granted.... if people actually were able to throw shit over that... it would be fucking AMAZING
That's what makes it such a spectacle... imagine watching someone drop in to hit it switch for the first time. Last year Jossi Wells was the first to hit Big Bertha switch (granted it was quite a bit shorter than this year's jump, but still fucking huge) and everyone went nuts when he stomped switch 5. It's incredible to watch people step up to jumps like these; if you saw ski movies last year, you probably saw Sammy Carlson switch 9 the big 'un, Dumont's cork 5s or JF Houle flat 9... and if they hadn't closed it down so quick, someone probably would have switch 10'd it. Believe it or not, if these guys know they're going to make the transition, the crazy tricks will come out.
Still, it looks like this year's jump just might have been too big. Any word on whether someone's made the tranny yet? All I've heard of are decks... best wishes to Candide, I bet those heels hurt like shit this time!
Ok,his vertebra is broken but he feels his legs and his arms, it's cool.He has it for two or three months.I think it's out for this summer but he will come back next winter.
