yeah i think its 0 cause both the sum and square root would come out to be 0... does the sum and square root have to be a whole number and does it have to be positive????
this man has it right... it's going to be -0.5 or -1/2. Just graph the equation on your calculator and you can see it right away, or you could find the derivative (2x+1) and solve it for x, which gives you one solution with the value -1/2. Since it is a positive quadratic equation, we know it opens upward and only has one extreme, so x = -1/2 has to be the answer because that's where the derivative is flat and therefore the function has its minimum value there.
