500 and counting
Well, last week, the 500th member joined newschoolers.com. This may seem insignifcant to most people, but it shows a huge stepping stone for not only this site, but the sport as a whole. Only a week before the 500th member joined, the 400th joined. Yes, in exactly ONE week, 100 people joined this amazing community.
Gone are the days where you had to wait 3 days to get a question answered on the newschoolers.com message board. Gone are the days when you would log on to the site to see the same thing you saw yesterday. Gone are the days when 10 windows would pop up every time you clicked on a link. All of these things were part of the growing pains early on at newschoolers.com. Most members stuck through it, complaining a lot, but realizing the potential. Those same members are the ones today that are writing articles, reviews, spreading the word on other websites, and posting daily.
Just this past week, a new clothing line has been released, stickers are being ordered, and graphics are being enhanced in every corner of the site. The site continues to grow exponentially, and can go no where but up.
Back when there were about 80 members, I receieved an e-mail stating: 'Skiing is more important than a web site, so don't waste your time'. This e-mail helped mold the site into the community that it is now. Although blunt, the e-mail spoke the truth about web sites. This is why newschoolers.com has taken the direction of allowing the members to create the content. The content is not on the site to waste ones time, rather to learn more about the site and interact with other people that love the site that they do! Every day I receive e-mails from members and guests who give me suggestions and comments about the site which helps mold it to a site that everyone can enjoy.
So with all the great members logging in every day, and to all the guests that stop by and see what's up at newschoolers.com, the site is well on its way to becoming the best, most used, and most informative freestyle, freeskiing, freeride, newschool, whatever you want to call it website in the world!
Cheers, and thanks for everyone's support.
Matt
