New iMac soon?

Allright, so my dad wants to buy a new iMac, but he thinks Apple will start selling a new one, so he's waiting for the WWDC to see if they're going to announce a new one. I'm pretty sure there won't be one, but can you guys tell me if I'm right?

by new i'm guessing you mean form factor?! i personally doubt that but who knows... apple don't leek stuff like that so your guess is as good as anyones.

however leopard (the new os) is due "2nd quarter 2007" so that's any time from now till the end of june, WWDC falls right in the middle of that so it's entirely possible that the leopard relese will be at or near to WWDC. So hanging on for that event might be worth while.

over the next few months i think likely we will see, leopard and *some* processor bumps (mac mini to c2d etc). If there is a new form factor i think it's more likely to be something entirely new or a new mac pro.

ok quick update on this... the new mac pro is actually just a processor bump to 8-core otherwise knows as 2 * 4 core, this just happened in the last few days.

My guess... at NAB we will get sneek peeks at more of leopard and the new iLife/iWork, possibly a release date. WWDC we will hopefully see it go on sale.

I still don't think there will be a *new* model or updated iMac, possibly some hardware upgrades though.
