the deffinition of a backside and frontside spin on a snowboard/skateboard/wakeboard etc
I am under the impression that a fronside spin is when you follow your front, having your back actually face the landing at one point of a 180 degree rotation
Some f4ggie n00bs disagree
please post conclusive video evidence, supporting my arguement, because, you all owe me

i got a few boarder friends and they all seem to think backside is the easy one, when your front is facing the landing on a 180

all i know is that a backside boardslide is when you slide forwards on a rail, facing where you're going, jumping on around your back

A backside 180 is when your toes will face the lip at 90 degrees.

simple enough, you frontside is your toe side edge, thus making your backside your heelside edge. So say you are regular foot( left foot forward) then a frontside spin would be to your right. makes sense if you think about it really.

frontside is carving into a jump and spinning on your from edge. bacside is carving on you back edge off the jump. so for a backside 180, you would have your stomach facing the landing at the 90 degree mark. for frontside it would be your ass facing the landing at the 90 degree mark.

okay I agree with ^ but most of the videos of these supposed "professional" snowboarders think that a backside 180 is when you follow your FRONT off the lip, having your toes face the lip at 90 degrees
this is fucked as I see it, because a backside boardslide is when you doa boardslide with your front facing the direction of travel

Frontside spins are when you spin first facing frontwards or at the landing of the jump. So if you're regular it would be spinning left, and right if you're goofy
Backside spins are when you turn your back towards the landing first. For regular stance it's to the right, goofs to the left.
Frontside on a rail is just coming into the rail facing it. Backside is coming with your back to it.

wrong.
heres the deal
i am right foot forward. left 180 (ie back facing landing at 90) = backside spin
i am right foot forward. right 180 (front facing landing at 90) = frontside spin
now for rails its confusing
the fs/bs issue with rails is that its assuming you are coming up on a street rail etc because the names are taken from skating where noone comes straight on to a rail
so if i come right foot forward and the rail is to my back, i make a frontside 90 and land so that im facing the end of the rail, that is actually a BACKSIDE BOARDSLIDE cause i approached with my back facing the rail. think opposite of spinning

what i've always heard was:
bs boardslide toes facingtop of rail at 90
bs 180 toes facing lip at 90.
but seriously, we're all retarded skiers. ask a snowboarder.

ok, so:
- a frontside spin is when someone has their heels facing the lip at 90.
- a backside spin is when someone has their toes facing the lip at 90.
- a backside boardslide is the easy one, you usually are coming at the rail from the side, with your back to it. You then pop a frontside spin to get on, but you were still going with your back to the rail, hence backside boardslide.
- a frontside boardslide is when you're coming at the rail with your front to the rail. You then pop a backside 90 to get on the rail, but your body was stillfacing front to the rail. You slide "backwards", with your butt facing the end of the rail, on a frontside boardslide.
A frontside lip, you will be traveling "forwards", front to the end of the rail. Backside lip, you will be facing "backwards".
That is the definition.
