I'm moving out to Colorado in september and I was thinking about picking up some FAT pow skis. I ski on some 05/06 salomon foils for all mountain. Right now I'm leaning twards the line "sir francis bacons". Any suggestions?
I used to ski old 1080s here in Colorado and switched to the Sir Francis Bacons this year and haven't regretted the decision at all. The bacons are sick everywhere you take them. You can use them on groomed and ice where other fat skis would blow. I say get the bacons.
the fischer atua is a dope ass ski. i live in the east and used it as my all mountain ski and it destroys. you can almost ski it like a GS on hardpact and yet it is 96 at the waist, and when you get into pow it floats like a dream. i highly recomend it.
Bacons are a super chill ski go for something like the AK enemys i ride them and they are sick or try some reverse camber skis like next years hellbents or the pontoons. Also try the thugs they are pretty fat. And you really want a big pow ski get the prophet 130's.
I have thought of the prophet 130s but figured they would be too fat for even Colorado backcountry. Who knows . . . . I am used to maine winters (ICE).
Rode the scratch STZ the other week, they were amazingly nice on shitty choppy snow and they were super stable. I didn't get a chance to ride them in pow, but with 110 underfoot, I imagine they would be awesome.
My Bacons have held up fine, no problems at all. In fact I have never had a problem with either of the line skis I own (also have the Eric Pollard Pro models).
