So NS is present at VT Open and Europe Open, shouldnt we see write ups on both events? I know there is a slopestyle one for europe open but what about the rest?

I miss the days where the news were out on NS first, we could rely on NS to know what actually happened somewhere, I mean editorial wise.

Busy? When you go as a media to an event, what can you be too busy doing not to be able to do a write up on an event? Im not eager, just disapointed.

Ns was pretty good at covering events when Kamikaze had set up a journalist network...

Is freeskier.com runned by CNN?

I don't often agree with pocket-rocket, but in this case I most certainly do. the reality is, the people in charge of ns have attended several huge events in the past few weeks, and especially this weekend, and have essentially failed to provide any up to date coverage for us. These guys have complete and total discretion as to what goes up in the news section of this site, they are at the contests, surely have access to wireless internet, but have barely provided us with anything but a tease. On the other hand, freeskier, whose main focus is a print magazine, has kept me up to date with qualifying, parties, and final results. what's up with that? say what you will about freeskier reporters having better ressources, but in truth, if the ns guys have laptops, they should be providing us with at least a similar level of coverage, if not way better, because their website is all they have going for them.

They don't have people at every simultaneous event, and they likely don't have the budget to either.

Im pretty sure Freeskier is covering the events with a pretty low budget, look at the write ups, they are from different people. There are talented people everywhere... and this was all established with the journalist network. Ok, give a break with the local event, but as Big Punisher said, take this week end major events as an example...and it was the same for US open, X-games..etc...

but the point is, in this case they were at events all weekend, and provided next to nothing. what exactly are they doing at these events? Promo for ns? meetings with sponsors? ie nothing they couldnt really do at any other time during the year.

Exactly. Is the advertising they are selling for a forum only or for a community and a website providing infos, event coverage and helping the industry grow?

Kamikaze is still doing a dope job at the Journalist Network still, when I covered the Midwest Massacre i got it out ASAP, but ya they did a real good job with US Open and kind of with X, a little dissapointed that I havent seen nything about VT open, but storeis dont usually come out until Mondays, seldomly do you see them before

And talking about sponsors and all, it comes down to customer retention, as the members get olders, they care less and less about the trash talk on the forum, the "ressource" side of the website becomes more and more interesting, but when that goes away...???

Well exactly, a kid does an article on a local event faster than the actual guys going out to an event 5hrs drive or 6 hours flight away?

all im saying is, if the people in charge of ns are going to attend an event, I feel like they at least owe it to their users to provide interesting, informative, and at the very least, entertaining updates. most ns members look up to them, and envy the position that they have in the industry. furthermore, we all know that these guys are privy to countless really cool encounters with the pro skiers whom we all idolize. they are obviously pretty cool dudes with pretty cool lives, and we all wish we could do these kinds of things ( fly out to Laax for example to hang out with the world's best skiers for a week), so why not let us into their world? I think it's especially pertinent to note that it's the users who keep ns in business. without us, the site would be dead. i don't want to have to rely on forum posts to find out who won events, let alone who qualified. these guys need to flip the switch on their laptops and keep us updated, as well as keep us entertained and stoked on the industry. as pocket-rocket said, otherwise ns is just a big forum. if that's what they want it to be, then i'm fine with that. but at the same time, if that's what it is, why go to the events?

I was stoked to see NS banners on the course at The VTO - instant coverage is a good idea, it's probably just a matter of delegation to someone literate, it's a good point to ask for instantaneous coverage.  It would make NS just that much better.

Fantastic, thats a fucking magazine where the writers get paid for that shit. Guys here on NS don't make money for anything they do, so they do it when they want to/if they want to. Jesus man.
