that person is an idiot then. they're not that good in the park to begin with, just too soft to be useful. they are fun for buttering and rails, but they are so soft they wash out easy on jumps. and they suck all mountain, though handle alright in the pow (for a centermounted ski)because they're a little wider, but are so soft they don't hold an edge on hardpack. might be alright if you're really light, but too soft for normal people.
I ski mine all over and and they are core center (06/07). i like them a lot. Not great on groomers or ice but decent, and actually not bad in powder and cliffs. As far as park goes they are great in my opinion.
i have a couple of friends who use them all-mountain
they're soft, but if you can stand chatter, they should be ok
they had them mounted in the "all mountain" midpoint
i had mine center mounted and they're fun in and out of the park. Granted i ski in Jersey at creek, but still they have great pop and you could take advantage of that
Yeah I have 06/07 mounted core center...for everthing in NJ and PA they work good. I've also used them in powder and backcountry stuff and theyre fun for that. But, kinda unstable at high speed/steep stuff. For the price they're going for now, definitely a good ski.
well then a fujative is definitely not that one ski. i bet i payed less for my two sets with binding than more people payed for their one, so it's all relative, some people need the new ski, while i usually ski skis a couple years older.
Only time I ever rode them I hated them so much that I traded out for my Mike Nick Pro's after one run, they chattered like crazy, and felt so squirrly that I swore one or both of the skis was just going to shoot out from under me and I would eat shit. But they were a size smaller than I would've liked to try, still though, way soft and way sketchy when I rode them.
FINALLY someone who can give a legit rating for fujatives.
there is a reason there a "park" ski in the k2 line up, THERE FOR THE PARK. Common sense also says that when you dont dish out your life savings for skis, there not going to be the best skis you can get.
not to knock the ski- i love them and own the original pair. (for park ridding)
they suck if you are not in the park. they are too soft to have any pressure on the contact points, they cant carve, and are so soft, that you cant lean forward or back at all or else the ski will flex.
Shit, I'm about 6'2" and weigh 185 and that ski works just fine for me....even out of the park. I would wholeheartedly disagree with you about it's performance on hard snow. I think it is pretty snappy and definatley torsionally rigid. That is a staple performance in our skis. However, if you slide rails all the time, your ski is going to suck on ice.The only thing I really don't like it in is the thick ass cement snow that we had at Alpental last weekend. If that ski is 'washing out on jumps' you most likely are not landing your tricks anyway.
I should clarify, I definately choose other skis to go all over the mountain, and obviously others provide you greater bennefits all around, I'm just saying they can work if you want them too.
Anything will work fine all mtn if youve never ridden anything else. Mine (05/06, core center) did fine for three days in summit county, but I still plan on investing in some all mtn sticks. Not what I would call impressive, I like the softness in the park but out of the park I felt like I was overpowering the ski and it washed out a lot, also got a bit funky at higher speeds.
Yeah I have this same question I guess I'll bump this. I rode my fujatives all over the freakin place but found myself a little scared when I would hit the ice and some hard-packed groomers and stuff cause it could get pretty squirrely. I mean I still rode them regardless but they were alll I had. I found I was just sliding out for turns and not really grabbing, but thats not necessarily the ski's fault lol.
What I would really like to know is what i should move to ? I end up around the mountain, but I like the park and stability on just regular runs. I've been looking at like invaders and maybe public enemies. I'm definitely not doing a whole lot of back-country so thats not really a worry. I could still manage with the fuja's in powder.
look at next years fujas the Kung Fujas. Theyre stiffer, 10 mm wider, and sandwich constructed so a lot more durable. definitely k2s one ski for the whole mountain
