our quad is like 5 feet long, why put the saftey bar down. has anyone else noticed this? the weird thing is that, people always think that everyone puts the bar down, so they don't bother to ask, and then it hits you in the back of the head (if you are tall). people are maniacs, dude.
i hate it when me and about 3 other friends get on the lift and we get paired up with some dude from florida or other tourists and they put the bar down. it is very annoying the handle goes in between my legs and crap then i hit my head on the top of the bar. it annoys me theres no need for the bar if you lean back
ya i love how the bar doesnt really do anything except for comfort when the truth is its not liek you are going to lean forward so far that you are gonna fall off without realizing you are doing it...to sum it up
i guess if your leaning forward and the lift stops suddenly and you fall off. 60ft to your death on a hard pack groomer. There's no point of the bar. It's there as a safety restraining device. Use it if you want or don't. Seems like some of you guys think it's cool not to put the bar down?????????????
it actually pisses me off a bit when people dont put it down. its not cool and when im wearing a pack or something i feel a lot safer with it there. its always park rats that dont drop it for some reason.
some douche in france slammed the bar down without telling me. it was a scary moment i tell ya ..... i was literally inches away from being castrated on a chair lift even my shity attempts to speak french dident work to tri get him to lift it " parle vo onglay ?" " ahhh ala balls stuk in le shatow " it was prob the most aquard / painful chairlift ride ever
after coming back from alta and getting used to not having abar nothing is more infuriating than getting slammed in the visor as soon as your feet leave the ground.
i maniacly plan the gapers demise but so far have only come up with cursing at their children. i am going to try this "chikcen/hold-bar-down" manouver.
Putting the bar down is just a reflex. I've been on some gnarly lifts in the alps, with sheer cliffs and stuff below you and the wind is literally pushing you off the seat. It was nice to have the bar then.
i also get good cases of vertigo, or at least an urge to jump to see what would happen; then it's nice to have the bar down. Plus footrests and stuff.
yeah i forgot that actually. US lifts dont usually go over huge chasms and stuff! there is a deadly one in alpe d'huez that has about a 200 foot drop i think
BC people are smart for the most part, it's the damn gapers from elsewhere that come to BC and slam the bar down. I can show you a dent in my helmet from where someone brought the bar down on me. Didn't just let it fall, yanked it into my head. That guy was wearing a helmet too and since it was the two of us, I punched his helmet as hard as I could. Then he was like "What the fuck was that for?!". Dumbass douchebag...but I got him really good.
if your not a skier than when the bar comes down all unexpectedly, i mean you cant rest your board on it like skiers can, its just completely in the way.
I never put the bar down. As long as you're leaning back on the backrest, it's physically impossible to fall off of a modern detachable or fixed grip in normal operation (normal stops and starts). If it's windy and snowing, I might put the bar down, but usually I try to avoid doing so.
