2006 olympics, skiing halfpipe

It has to be. Cause in 4 years the sport will be bigger. I think areials(sp) will change to switch hits and grabs no more same tricks and sh*t thrown by the last 10 riders. With stiff bodies in the air. I hope skiing halfpipe will make it to 2006. If curling can skiing can. Xgames will make it happen would snowboarding be in the olympics without the xgames hell no. Xgames made snowboarding mainstream.

Not gonna happen. Skiing's still got a ways to progress, just look at men's snowboarding halfpipe. I missed it but my bro said that Ross Powers threw a huge method on his first hit, like 20 feet out and that some guy stomped a cab 1080 straight into a 900. Plus it takes forever for an Olympics Committee to pass stuff, let alone another whole event. Sorry bro, I'm callin 2010.

ya, you gotta understand that the IOC is run by a bunch of old dudes. And there is way too much politics in it, so there is no way ski halfpipe will be in the Olympics next time around.

i would not want to see newschool ski stuff in the olympics b/c then it would become gay like 1/2 of the other shit in the olympics. there would be like all these freeride teams and practices and that would take the fun out of the sport.

it very well could happen. i dont really care i kinda like skiing being small and not the 'popular' thing to do cuz as soon as it is accepted by people as a rad thing to do a whole bunce of litte gay posers get into it just like what has happen to snowboarding. 1 sweet thing would be to get in on some of that pipe cuz this years looked like one fine piece of vert.

how long did it take snowboarding to reach olympic stature? pretty damn long. it will take freeskiing probably even longer to make it to the olympics especially with FIS running the show.

when snowboarding was getting influinced by the evil originizations they hated it...but this year all the top pros were training hard to get into the olympics. You think skiers are just being immature and delaying the inevidable? I'm still undecided on weather FIS will destroy the sport, or just give it a bigger exposure to the media...i mean - snowboarding isn't doing to bad right now.

To be in the olympics, the F.I.S. will have to get involved, and they can shove that idea up their ass. Who here wants freeskiing to become a the next freestyle. Freestyle hasn't been free since the early 80's. Pick up the last Skier, they tell all you groms whats up (look for the article with Szocs' middle finger). It's not FIS sucks but FIS FUCKING sucks!!

going off the basis of how HORRIBLE(and we are talking horrible) the judging was in the men's halfpipe, i hope freeskiing never becomes an olympic event. Unless we are not tucked, and doing triple triples, they don't want us. Besides how many good jibbers would want to enter a contest where a quad twister is worth more then a rodeo 7 mute?

Unfortunately I think Ski halfpipe is a reality in the next four years. I mean right now more and more people are realizing that snowboarding isnt the 'cool' thing to do or whatever, and I think in 4 years we are going to see even more of that, which frankly sucks. I dont want all of these jackass snowboarders to take off their boards and hop on planks because its cooler, and I just pray that newschooling never makes it to the Olympics, because its much better as a tight-knit group of select few who have found the way

I think it is inevitable and will eventually become the norm...
Look at snowboard halfpipe: A few years ago all the top pros were acting EXACTLY like most people on this forum , 'FIS sucks' 'we want no part of it' etc. And some big pros even boycotted the first olympic halfpipe, now, they are all striving for olympic gold. And don't tell me that winning an olympic gold medal, in front of 12 000 people and the world wouldn't be exceptionally cool.
Men's skiing halfpipe is definitely not at the same caliber as men's snowboard pipe, we still have a long way to go....
I do admit that the judging system in place right now for snowboard halfpipe is definitely unacceptable, i.e. who needs a rotations judge?

It will never happen in teh next 20 years because people dont think of it as a part of skiing. The olympics are only for conventional sports and that isnt a normal part of skiing yet.

We'll make it in there eventually. Hopefully 2014. I think halfpipe skiing would attract a huge number of viewers.
