tail heights

are there any skis with such low tails that you wouldn't recommend taking off, riding, or landing switch? if there are, which skis are they? where do you draw the line?

I do'nt think any true twins have an unsafely-low tail

but the
salomon 720's
line mavericks
line darksides
and....another one...shoot..

anyways, those are lower than others, but not a problem at all.

Umm.. mavericks have a 35mm tail, that's more than many skis out there, it's just less than line's normal 55mm tail.

But yeah,
You can land fakie and ski fakie on any ski but for taking off fakie, look out for the Salomon 720 and Line Darkside and the Salomon Verse series and what not.

the concepts look like they have little to no tail. its crazy small. If twins fit in a normal upright ski rack...they aren't real twins. hehe

Concepts only have something like a 25mm tail... but it's still good enough for hitting a jump fakie. It's just not good for something like a steep backcountry kicker where your tails could dig in.

haha nice huckster !! Thats a good defination. if they don't fit in the slots on the side of the gondola then you know you're riding a fat twin (ie: pocket rockets). My PRs do not fit into any gondola slot

ya djextreme Mavericks are pretty good just a little less for all mountain purpose, but like 5 kids at Bousquet have them one real good kid and they take off and land switch fine they are pretty sick skis, seem real soft though

whos in da house, SACA is in the house!!! hahahahmuhahahah

i think 40+mm is fine for all mountain.
PE's= Tip: 69mm Tail: 57mm

i think the back tail should be higher than the front so its like a spoiler and you get better handling and gas mileage.

the concepts tail is too low for switch slushy/ powder landings. I've been fine on everything else.

yeah i can use my rossi free zb3's for switch landings in the park, but nowhere else...they have the same tail height as the concepts i think.

gregg you'd probably be better off with volkl's or the pe's. i just picked up some v-expressions, cuz i dont like my rossi's, and because i couldnt find pe's anywhere. but pick the pe's or the volkl's

For park you need minimal tail rise. I've seen guys land big stuff fakie in the park on Bandits, which have 1cm tops.

my bandits have 17mm tail height and i can land and take off switch no prob. even in slush but thats just a matter of being balanced properly on your landing, being from michigan i dont know how they would do in any real amount of powder
