they are on the softer side of medium, not noodly at all. and feel super stable. they do it all. i find it comparable to a scratch BC, but a little snappier, better response, aka more pop.
I wouldn't really consider them buttery, but I am used to the original pistols. I agree with whats said above, a little bit on the softer side of medium, but lots of pop and they're really stable.
i didn't find the difference noticeable, maybe a little in the tips, the tails felt the same. and as vet said, not a "buttery" ski, but you can definitely butter with them if you so desire.
