if you got photoshop or any picture program you just reformat the size of the picture to 50x50 pixels

i found out today that you can upload it to photobucket, go to edit and it has a feature that makes it an avatar for you..pretty nifty

select and resize by being on the correct layer and pressing ctrl + t and hold down the shift button to keep it the same shape.
