Too bad the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change just released a summary stating that with greater than 90% certainty that humans ARE responsible for global warming.

i didnt watch that yet, but you are absolutely correct! al gore is full of shit. many scientists actually say that we are entering an age of cooling, but beside that, there has been something like 60% more sun activity in the past 50 years than ever recorded. glad to know someone else knows he full of shit

I sometimes think people are against doing anything about global warming just because its linked with Al Gore...

Why does it matter if we're causing it or not? Why can't we think, "hm, our life would be a bit better if the world were cleaner. Do I want to breathe in toxins from having too many dirty cars? Nope!"

Did you even watch the movie?
It perfectly explains that

oh HUMANS are not to blame. i kept looking at that thinking you were attmepting to spell "hummers"...which might also make sense actually

Well put...while i do believe that humans are somewhat responsible for global warming when someone who disagrees tries to argue with me I just tell them that...they usually just shut up...but seriously how many global warming threads do we need?

i still think humans have some responsibility and that we should def be cleaning up

global warming is crap that dickwads like al gore use to get people to like them because they suck at getting elected president. also looking at those temp graphs in the movie it looks like earth might go back to cooling for afew decades. that would be sweet except everyone would thank al fucking gore for it

You know, there was a conference a few months ago in (Iran i believe?) about how the Holocaust was a complete hoax as well. There were plenty of credible scientists and "hard facts" were presented. Guess I should believe that too?

oh, I see, so the hundreds upon hundreds of Phd's have totally disgregarded sun warming input.
See you stupid ass fuckers in another 20 years.

global warming is not really a problem, the problem is that by 2050 we will have 9 billion humans on earth with more than half living in areas heavily affected by weather patterns. Combine that with water shortages, desertification, overgrazing, and then the shit really hits the fan, the True inconvient truth is overpopulation. But even that is a touchier subject that global warming.

common sense dictates that the unnatural chemicals we are pumping into the atmosphere are going to have some unwanted effect.
Global warming, global cooling, whatever ends up happening... there is a very thin range of parameters that allow life on earth to exist at all, and the atmosphere is something that so far has defied most predictive attempts because of its complexity as a logistic system. It is a very chaotic process.
So how about we leave it alone until we know what's up, huh?

you are fucking dumb.
the movie talks about the fact that YES it does seem like putting pollutants into the air would have some sort of effect, but in fact... it doesnt.

Bottomline is that weather's a chaotic system, therefore it's impossible to predict or infer anything from any data that we collect, since the smallest change in any aspect of the system could exponentially alter it's behaviour.
That being said, we've still got to be careful, since the next time you start up your car could cause an ice age, we simply don't know.

...on global warming.
even IF that were true, all i know is that people in Beijing DIE because of the air they breathe on a daily basis... Pollution is bad for us and the environment, you can't debate that, so go away.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS THREAD! i have been waiting for dsomeone to back me up on this. I got a lot of shit from people in the other global warming thread for throwing this idea out there. and your right, al gore is a piece of shit.......

you know anyone could say the exact same thing about any movie that talks about how global warming is real.
global warming is just hyped of for pliticians to get votes.

you seriously have to be a complete fucking idiot to not believe that humans dont have a part in ruining the ecosystem. WE POLLUTE A LOT EVERY FUCKING DAY. JUST BECAUSE YOU DONT SEE THE EFFECTS FROM IT RIGHT AWAY DOES NOT MEAN ITS NOT HAPPENING. THE EARTH IS ON A DIFFERENT TIME SCALE THAN HUMANS ARE. A YEAR IN HUMAN YEARS IS LIKE A MINUTE IN EARTH TIME, GIVE IT TIME AND ALL OF OUR EFFECTS WILL CAUSE HUGE DISASTERS.

You are a complete idiot yourself. You clearly have not spend any time in university, done any research, talked to any professors, or even seen this goddamn video. The only thing you seem to be referencing is "The Day After Tomorrow"
Nobody is debating that we are poisoning the earth, we are discussing whether or not our CO2 emissions which are only 7% of C02 emissions. Volcanos have more, animals have more, etc. We are poisoning the world, we are NOT warming the world.

hahahah, you really believe that 7% bullshit? Im sure the numbers have went down in the recent years, but what about all that time before that? When humans were releasing all kinds of gases daily when there were no regulations about co2 (i.e. 100 years ago), they didnt give a fuck and regurarly sent very toxic gases up into the air. Hell, there are still people today who realease a ton of toxic shit and dont get caught for it.
What about huge forest fires that happen every year all over and are started by humans? Yea, im sure thats part of your 7%......I agree, fires are natural, but not manmade fires.
Yea, I agree, the sun might be going through unnatural occurances, but to say humans have absolutely NO part in global warming is sooo fucking stupid, seriously. Ever heard of greenhouse gases? yea, they dont just go away.

Guess what? I actually READ IT in a paper, they did not specify the number in the film. Clearly, you are talking shit about the film without actually watching it.
You have got to be kidding, because nobody is NEARLY that stupid. Industrialization 100 years ago was less than 1/1000th of what it is today, hahahaha. Forest fires are NATURAL, they happen without human intervention the vast majority of the time.

I think there is definitely a global climate change going on but that we also have some part in it...I mean in school my science teacher was saying in the 70s they preached about global cooling and that now its global warming..he thinks that we have an effect on it but that science is limited to what we are able to analyze and that really so much is speculation and theories they can't totally prove but we need to try...weird science dude...anyway we just have to stop polluting so my asthma gets better and learn to live with nature better.

indeed, i would watch that movie again. Sunspots, my friend, have more influence than C02 emissions. Doesn't mean we shouldn't cut down on them, but this isn't our bad, it's the suns.

ok, seriously, why the fuck do scientists spend time researching what the sun is doing?
We cant change it, its millions of miles away. We arent affecting the sun, it only affects us and we cant change that. We can however, take action on our own planet.
Why cant we spend time researching about how we can change things here on earth?
Its just something to make people feel better as they pollute the fuck out of the environment here on earth,is all.
Basically the only things we can do as normal individuals is just try not to drive your car as much as possible or pollute water sources. Ride a bike if you can.
Forest fires are natural, i agree. Fires that are started from a burning cigarette are not.

I agree, I think people should ride their bike, people should take the bus, etc. The only argument against this is that north america's biggest import and export is automobile industry.
Science is the pursuit of knowledge through experimentation and observation, no matter how ugly or "inconvenient" it may actually be (ironic isnt it).

haha you are a fucking retard, show me conclusive proof that it doesn't do anything and I'll believe you, but until then, I think you're full of shit.
I am not saying global warming is true. What I'm saying is that the earth's atmosphere is a finely tuned machine that has been ticking over for millions of years and we'd be better off not fucking with it until we're sure we aren't doing anything that's going to come around to bite us in the ass.
I don't expect you to be able to understand the nature of chaotic systems like the earth's atmosphere, but take it from me that we have no good way of predicting exactly what effect all our pollutants will have. It's a very hard system to model, even with all the data we have. I'm sure the scientists in your video are very smart people, but the reality is they know about as much about what's going on as the people who say we ARE causing global warming.
People get so caught up in this global warming shit and trying to prove each other wrong and hating al gore but guess what, it's not about fucking liberals and conservatives, it's about the earth. Everyone has to live here.

I didn't take the time to read the arguments above, i've seen 100's of them in other threads. I look at it this way:
Cutting back on CO2 emissions wont hurt anything
If we aren't causing global warming, we're probably speeding it up
But REGARDLESS, this is the bottom line. Humans are so fucking cocky they think they actually have the power to destroy the Earth. C'mon folks. The Earth has been here for billions of years, survived earthquakes, volcanoes, meteors, global climate shifts, ice ages, floods, and we think that a few plastic bags, and some styrofoam are going to kill the Earth?! Wake the fuck up. The Earth isn't going to go anywhere...we are. Like getting rid of a virus, the Earth will simply kill every last one of us if it gets that bad. But I like this sort of think. Keeps life exciting.

what's the name of the movie??? I wanna see it so i can mae myself an oipnion.
and remember documentares are made to change peoople oppinion and they just give your thier opinion so you have the same as they do.
it's not because a couple scitentist backed uop part of a statement from the makers from a documentary that it is necessaerly all true.

yeah, i don't know...there's evidence on both sides of the argument.
this documentary was pretty convincing though...
