so i got this problem with my boots (salomon x-wave 10 3 years old). when i go skiing and it is really hot my feet swell up and they hurt like a bitch. i got quite narrow feet but quite arched. i am looking to get some new ones with a little less flex (8ish). anyone got this problem or is it just me.
(1) Invest in cork-bed custom insoles (unless you're 11-years old and growing a new shoe size every year). This is important for people with high-arches.
(2) If you're boots are 3-years old, they're probably packed out, meaning there's little cushion left in the inserts.
(3) Go to a reputable bootfitter (the place that customed your insoles) and try a lot of different boots (even ones that are reputted to be "wide").
people that are saying "get tecnicas or get this or that company"...every company makes a different style of boot, in tecnica a diablo fit isnt the same as a vento and different from a modo. Its all about what fits your foot, not the reputation, not the look, and not the name on the box. Go to a bootfitter, tell him what you want in a boot...soft flex, stiff flex etc.. and they will give you what is best according to your foots width, arch, calf, etc. No matter what boot your in a custom insole is always a good bet. This will give you more cushion and a great customized fit.
you also might wanna try stepping into skis and leaning forward. rampages fit me great when i tried them on, they still do. but soon as i get into skis i feel like even theyre too big for me, the inside boot thing feels like it goes up so much when i lean forward a lot. i think i just got half size too big but ill prolly grow into it next year
yeah you dont have to get into a ski, but you should deff get into a forward athletic stance. This should be the first thing the salesman says to you. You want your toes to be touching the front of the straight up, then when you lean forward your heel slides back into the pocket, and your toes come back as well. At that point your toes should be brushing the front of the boot lightly, but still to the point where you can deff. tell there touching.
i have the chance to test anything i might buy from a shop so i'll go in and take a bunch and try them out at my hill. i would like something softer than my old ones (x-wave 10). i'll try the foils or spks as well as other brands.
