How do you size skis?

I'm 5'9" and 135lbs, would i want someting like 140-150?

i only kno how snowboards work :(

that is way too short, im 5' 7'' and i ride 189 jps and 181 tanners, the biggest they come. bigger=better landings(especially switch), looks better, and ur not a little bitch then with small skis

well if u were snowboarding ur probably a relative beginner so, 175 minimum, or i'd make fun of u.

your pretty light but i still would never go below a 170 in park, you would probably be set with a 175

too small, trust me. when i was young i went from 169 lines to 181 dynastar concepts. u'll like bigger when u get used to it

on my friends 157 i was trying to do switchups on a box and when u jumped and turned my tails hit the box and i fell, so thats just because i suck right? and not because the skis are too long Ive skied before so I can make it down the hill, but I'm gonna get a pair and start working on park, even though im a snowboarder, was tons of fun skiing

you probably should go with something around 175. no smaller than that, it might seem a little big because youre used to having a really smal snowboard but you dont really want skis that are up to your chin

no its not "homosexual" its just dumb, ski sizes are nothing like snowboards, do yourself a favor and take the advise given in this thread, anywhere between a 170-180 is a perfect park ski,

Dude... I started as a snowboarder, and I thought yeah I'll be the man with my short skis, so I bought 141 tms, and I was like 5'3 then... like 2 months later I got some 168 scratches and they make a maaaassive difference. You can stop way more for stability. You might be able to learn sketchy 3s on small skis but trust me, after a week you will want something around the same height as you, not below your neck

I'm 5'7 165 (im chubby, i know) and have 158's that I baught like 2 years ago when I was like 53.  Do i need to get a new pair? my skis are in great shape but I don't know if they are too smal.

if you're just learning, i would say go around 167ish. I know most people say bigger is better, but as a beginner, a short ski would help you with rotations and such. once you get the hang of it, go bigger, its not like you will need all the extra length. at least not your first season.
