In my sociology class my teacher was talking about socialist government, and mentioned canada because of the free health care and junk. But anyways he said that if you go to the emergency room in canada whoever got there first will be treated first, so if you go and have a cold and then someone comes in right after with a gunshot wound to the face and only one doctor is available they'll treat the guy with a cold first because they want to be equal, like socialists, is this true? Could someone from Canada explain the system to me?
Of course not! They'll treat the people with gunshots first! of course there's some kind of waiting list but if someone if severely wounded or sick they'll treat him first. The principle of first arrived, first served is only for minor injuries or colds, etc. Sure our system isn't perfect but we have some pretty good doctors.Your teacher seems kinda biased.
yeah hes retarded. although the health care is free, theres a long waiting list and not enough doctors/nurses. a few month ago my local hospital ER had to close because there were not enough people to run the place.
canadian health care is not necessarily an example to follow...doesn't work out that well.
Looooong waits in the ER, I've heard some pretty horrific stories about people suffering in there. I'd rather not deal with the canadian health care to tell you the truth, going private is probably a lot safer.
