Wireless -> hardwire

so i have a laptop that gets internet via a wireless card, but i also have a desktop that desires the net...however it has no such card and i don't want to go out and buy one if i don't have to. is there a way to hardwire the internet from my laptop to the desktop? i know you can do it on macs, just wondering if there were any tricks for pcs. thanks.
