turned up tails (or twin-tips as you fellas call them) help release a turn easier than old non twin skis. this is a proven fact! plus, pretty much all of K2's skis have at least a little turned up tail. directional skis are a thing of the past (unless you have swallow tails for deep pow)
And the directional skis are a think of the past claim...
Just go to the place I work... We are shit out of twintips, but we have a crapload of brand new 2007 season directional skis in stock. Lots are K2, and they dont really have any tails. Just look at the 3com, the 4com, and 5com... even the Apache series. Hell I dont think any have even a semitwin design...
Racing = directional.. and racing is not dead quite yet lol.
people ride twin tips cuz race skis are ugly and expensive, and most other all-mountain skis are either expensive or ugly, twin tips are generally cheaper, and a lot better looking as well
