Check out sponsorhouse.com, there are a lot of grass roots companies on there. Also, start with you local shop and see if they have a team. That will get you started and if you ride well, they might be able to put you in touch with bigger sponsors.
That being said, don't expect to get a bunch of free stuff for nothing. Being worth sponsoring is more than just riding well. Be prepared to help at at demo's, go to comps, and push your product. Otherwise, don't bother, you'll be a drag on the industry. When approaching a company or rep, have a video to show your skills and be prepared to tell them how you can help their company out. Finally, if you do get sponsored, don't be a stuck-up jerk to everyone else. Help the kid who's learning 3's or sliding his first rail.
its not about getting sponcered dude, the best thing to do i just go out and ski fro fun aand progress, and then the better you get the more people will notice you and evcentually you will get picked up, dont be in a rush.
ok heres what you do, yoou get a good filmer to ski with you, do some crazy stuff, get a whole lot of fooege, then make a edit, then you send the edit into the pace that you want to get sponsored by, make sure to enter some comps and send them a list of all the comps you have been in, and what youre places where, and then hopefully they will sponsor you
the best way to get picked up by good companies is to be on some kind of team that will tlke you to lots of bigtime comps like the us open and your coach will probley help you out if you are really serious about it. but if you just like to ski for fun and do little local fun contest it will be a lot harder and you will have to film film film and then send send send.
not really. from what i ve seen, no ski companies care about usasa. i went to nationals last year and got 4th and saw nothing about any kids getting noticed.
Yea it seems to me like sending in vids works less often. My friend kept sending ivds to like everyone like Oakley Smith etc. He went to Momentum and the ppl at the demo centre saw him ... Now hes got A Salomon and Smith sponsor lol
if you only have a video, it will be harder. but even if youre not as good and if you have done a lot of competitions and got good results then thats better than just sending in a video
Its funny how kids progress to get sponsored now(not all).
What do people expect to happen w/ the ski industry? Are they just going to give all these kids free skis, not make any money and not be able to make skis anymore? To be really sponsored it is harder than a fulltime job, requiring mental anguish from traveling and physical pain and torment from the actual skiing.
People think that being pro just means getting free shit. Your not getting free shit, your working for your shit, but your shit just happens to be way sick.
if your not good dont do sponsorhouse.com anyone can get a sponsor thier, its so gay. dont be a poser tryin to get sponsors, because once your sponsored you have high expectations on the company and the public. yada mean?> take it easy your first couple years then come out when ur like 16 and madd good.
no! I mean that its ironic how I spend half of my life making films, yet I didnt even make a sponsor vid for myself. Typically you'd think someone with knowledge of video production would be able to whip out a sponsor vid easily and quickly.
