alright, so i got super baked and started to wonder:
how do people who are born blind know what seeing is? like, how do you explain the act of seeing something to someone?
and my friend proceeded to ask me, "how do people that are born blind dream? what are their dreams like? do the see things in their dreams?"
crazy fuckin shit man, crazy shit

they probably dream in black and white, and only shapes that they can piece together through the sense of touch. It is weird to think about, however it must be nice to not know what they are missing.

sure. I can't see out of my hands, but i can still dream. Just because you're missing a sense doesn't mean you don't dream.

They've found ways to repair blindness. It costs a lot, but they can hook a wire into your brain that hooks up to a pair of sunglasses that 'sees' for you. Kind of like a mechanical eye.

i think when you're blind you gain perception of the world around you through the testimonies of people in books (braille) And from their perspectives one can begin to construct their world. It is interesting to think about because a blind person may dream of a car, but they may create it in their mind differently from how a person with vision could. There are all kinds of styles of cars, but how can a person describing a car to a blind person possibly explain that there isn't simply one visual definition of a car.
Also for instance, a blind person feeling a cube and then a sphere would not be able to distinguish the difference between a cube and a sphere if somehow miraculously his vision was restored. He knows the difference between a cube and a sphere from tactile perceptions, but he does not know the difference between a cube and a sphere through visual perceptions. He has never experienced a visual perception before, thus he could not distinguish between the two. He does not know that what affects his touch must affect his sight. (Locke)

If someone restored a blind man's sight, he'd still be blind. Although his eyes would be functioning, his brain wouldn't know what to do with the incoming information.

i got a question kinda a philosophy question...
how do you explain a color...? describe green to me.
if blue and red are both colors, then does that make them the same?
are colors an individial reflection that one produces.

that is a pretty crazy consept i dont its really possible to
explain teh action of seeing to a blind person but i guess it
makes sense. What i mean is if they are born with out the gift
of seeing then they were not ment to see or know what it is

Blind people dream of sounds and sensations. It's a pretty simple concept.
