ok this is soooo scary. 45% of girls 20-24 have herpies.

More specifically the figures for female HPV prevalence found by the study are:

- 25 per cent for 14 to 19,
- 45 per cent for 20 to 24,
- 27 per cent for 25 to 29,
- 28 per cent for 30 to 39,
- 25 per cent for 40 to 49,
- 20 per cent for 50 to 59 years of age.

Wait??

If..45% of 20 to 24 yr olds have it, how do fewer 25 to 29 year olds... It's not a new virus and it doesn't go away. How did 18% of the girls turning 25 lose thier herpes??

i'm having a hard time undertanding what you just said.. or if parts of that was sarcasm or not.. but precum is a bodily fluid, so there probably is a chance that STDs carry in your precum... just like there is a REALLY REALLY REALLY small amount in your saliva if your infected with an STD.

precum doesn't have sperm, UNLESS you've jacked off recently and didn't pee after.. peeing kinda cleans it all out.. but if you didn't pee after getting off, there's a chance of alive sperm still in there.

Uhh Huh..

So you're saying that five years ago there was an 18% difference? Those people that were 24 and have turned 25 didn't get it until they were 25?

I realize that it's a snapshot, but hpv has been around for a long time and is a permenant condition... If 20% of a people are dead now, in five years you can't have only 15% dead...

ha guy, it's really not that hard to comprehend. They are two different age ranges, why would they have to be similar. 18 percent of girls didn't lose herpies when they turned 25, because this is a sample of different age groups taken at the same point in time. They didn't chose one group and follow them through a period of time or anything.....

.... I dont get what you're trying to say. HPV is a permanent virus, yes. However, these statistics are just a snapshot of the population with the disease. If you were to take another snapshot of the disease across ages in a few years, the 'bulge' at 20-25 would be shifted (given that the disease does not spread, because otherwise I'm sure it would be more prevalent in the younger populations).

HPV is not good shit. There are lots of strains, and about half of them cause cancer in women. Guys, its our responsibility to find out if we have it or not, because passing it unknowingly to a partner is like spreading AIDS. Ok, maybe not as bad, but you still can give your girlfriend cancer. Get tested, and get your girl to be vaccinated.

agreed. get tested. most of the guys i know haven't even been tested, they figure "no symptoms, no problem" and they could easily be responsible for passing HPV to however many girls they've slept with. Then in turn the girls are called whores for having it?

I'm willing to bet at least one guy in this thread who hasn't been tested, has it.

i think the only point is that as you get older and have more partners your risk of getting hpv increases with each person you sleep with.....therefore it would seem to be that hpv rates would be higher in older age groups.

I'm just not convinced those numbers can be right.

A 18% jump for this batch of 20yr olds?
Then 5 years ago 18% less of 20 year olds had the hpv??
Plus there's the number of 25-29 year olds that contracted it since they've been in that range.
That doesn't really add up.. what's wrong with this current group, have they all forgotten to wrap it up?

I get that it's a one time study, but that's a significant jump... Especially for a disease that doesn't go away...
