Alternitive uses to hemp.

So, apparently canabis indica (not pot, its little brother) can be used to make clean burning fuel for cars, biodegradeable plastics for saving the environment, because of its extremely fibrous stalk can be used to produce paper much more efficiently than trees which would cut down on logging, it can be used as a starch in baking, it can be woven to make clothes. so WHY the FUCK is a species of canabis that you can't even get high off illegal? canabis sativa is the one that gets you blazed when you light it on fire.

Basically because it has trace amounts of THC (not enough to get you high) and because it gets a bad rap for being related to cannibis satvia.
Hemp seeds also make tastey cereal.

dont think so...
Hemp also makes dank rope. All rope on boats in the earlier days were made of hemp.

it does.
Hemp contains delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive ingredient found in hashish and marijuana. The THC levels in hemp are minute and have very little intoxicating effects. THC is present in all Cannabis plant varieties to some extent. In varieties grown for use as a drug, where males are removed in order to prevent fertilization, THC levels can reach as high as 20-30% in the unfertilized females which are given ample room to flower.

There are soo many uses for hemp that could be taken advantage of it rediculous to not do it. Just because people have 'gotten' high off it is the most primitive mindset ever. Reality check. People get high off chemichals they buy in stores these days. So dont give me that shit.

doesnt anyone else think that this could seriously help out with some of the major problems earth is facing today.
if america used 6% of our land (source: up in smoke) to grow canabis indica then we would no longer be energy dependent on other nations. you might say that 6% sounds like a small amount but in fact is larger than several states, but consider how much land we use to grow corn.

yep, think about it, the government doesn't want to use alternative methods because it would be endorsing canibis. there would be choas. it would be epic.

are you sure that we would even get more energy out of the hemp than it would take to grow it. It was my understanding that marijuana doesn't just grow as easily as corn does.

also, it's better for the land to grow hemp than it is to grow cotton... but we can't possibly use it because it's "like weed."
I guess some people are too closed-minded to save the environment.

you need 0 pesticides to grow hemp, it can grow taller than corn (10 ft is the limit of sativa, or pot, its grows even higher if it is canabis indica, or hemp) hemp also grows much much faster. corn can be used to produce ethanol which is used in making biodiesel but right now thats about it. you can't make biodegradable plastic out of corn, or clothes that dont suck.

are you thinking of cannibis reudella(sp).. cause i know for a fact cannabis indaca is a kick in the fuckin pants that and the more tall like sativas are what you smoke.. industral hemp is a strain of sativa that has a low. .5%-3% thc content.. but reudella is more bush like and produces very little if any thc. but is just as versitle in industrual means as sativas and indaca... now

the government doesn't really want too many alternative fuel sources. take corn ethanol. the government is supporting it simply becuase corn is grown on us soil. yet sugar ethanol (which brazil uses to be completly oil free) is over 20 times more effective than corn ethanol. so it all boils down to money

the problem is it sounds so un-legit coming from a bunch of stoners like all the guys that run all those informative websites. they are legit websites but people completely ignore it just because they think they are just hippies trying to end the prohibition.

i wasnt refering to a specific kind of bud. i was saying it can be grown almost anywhere, and shitty schwag can be grown as easily as planting a couple seeds and comin back a few months later. its definitely not going to be any good but its still weed.

Yeah... to grow a plant with quality bud is hard work, but to grow a plant for it's hemp products isn't hard. Like the other kid said... it's a weed.

becasue america is so dependant on oil and all the major oil companies have such a strangle hold on us that if we stopped using oil the US would ultimatly collapse.

I heard that the stuff they grow ethanol with just about counters the positive effects

Your way off on your thc levels my friend. Hemp plants would be less then 1% thc, where as the dankest of weeds barely reach 20%. Most good bud being between 7 to 18 percent.

a major effect of corn ethanol is it is raising the living expenses for poor people. Since there is an increased demand for corn since it serves multiple purposes now it is selling for more, so yeh ive read an article or two about how its causing a huge hunger epidemic kidna

when you look into big business and oil companies you will understand
they are just power/money hungry and could really care less about hemp, no matter how much good it will do for us...because the govnerment can't rake in huge profits in hemp like they can in oil

ok you are all obviously uninformed. Canabis Indica and Canabis Sativa both contain large amounts of THC... they are both commonly smoked. Indica, being the shorter plants tend to give more of a body high, while Sativa (headies) tend to give a head high. It is a third kind of canabis that provides the best hemp.

just to give you guys an idea of how little THC is in hemp, i read an article and it quoted a hemp farmer and he said it would take a JOINT the SIZE of a TELEPHONE POLE to get you high...

these have been around for hundreds of years. rope, sails, paper, and clothes have been made out of hemp since before the foundation of america.

So would a mix of hemp and weed work? Or would you not really notice the hemp?

indica is just another family of weed strains, like sativa. they both have THC, and you smoke both of them. but there are other types of cannabis that dont have any in em, and it already is legal to grow it if you want to make paper and shit. it just cant have over a certain limit of THC.

actually, the dude you just flamed is right. FEMALE plants (the ones you get high off of) are very hard to grow. However, MALE plants are a weed which DO grow just about everywhere. They dont get you high, but they look very similar to the female plants, and you will most likely find some of the male plants if ur taking a walk in the woods....they love sunny areas too. Ive got TONS of this shit growing around where i live in Western NY.
