How fucked is my friend?

I just got some real shitty news. One of my friends just got pulled over, his car got searched and the Fuzz found just over an O, bagged into one half, a quarter and like 4 twenty bags. There were also two pieces in the car, a scale, (maybe two) a couple more empty bags, a grinder, lighters, etc. Theres no chance of the search being thrown out since there was a warrant on his car from when people doing work on his car found nug and called the police last may. Now, I know this is a reallly bad situation, but I also know that the american legal system is terribly biased towards rich, white people. His dad is acting as his lawyer, i think, and his dad used to be a pretty serious lawyer and has a good reputation and decent influence. This kid was going to BU next year with some scholarships and I believe was already accepted to grad school as well. This has been pretty disorganized, but i'm in shock. I'm trying to think of any other useful situation. He turns 18 in a couple months. Does anyone have any idea of how fucked my friend is?

Anyone know if its possible for them to not charge him as a minor? I've heard about other more serious cases in which people are charged as adults, but nothing like this.

Just have him say he stole the car, and the registration is a pure coincidence. And if that doesnt work, he mgiht be pretty fucked, but its only weed, not yayo, which equals jail time and shit. itll probably be some community service, since its only an O, but i dunno the penalties for traffiking

If his dad is a good lawyer I imagine he can probably get out of any dealing charges. Probably a fine and some community service are what he has to look forward to. Maybe probation.

I'm just speculating because I have absolutely no knowledge or experience with any of this.

Uhm.. well a kid I know got a massive fine for intent to sell over a quarter, because he had bought it from two different dealers so it was split up in separate bags. As this is far more incriminating... I would say he's probably looking at some pretty heavy shit.

where the fuck else is he gonna put it obviously he was slanging it and oh yeah i bet every dealer slangs bud outta there parents house, i smoke in cars 80% of the time i smoke too

he'll prolly get put onto probation if he doesnt have a clear record and willhave to stop smoking for like 6 months or so idunno fuck the system its sooooo screwed up i got 80 hours of community service and atleast 8 different classes from taking my parents car out on a joy ride when i was 13

I'm not too sure how bad it is where you live, but i know my friend got off with was more than that through explaining that the reason he had his 5 ounces bagged up seperatly was so he could pace himself and not smoke it all at once. However, this was really because the copper was sound as fuck, and he actually suggested to him that excuse. He got a warning.

But i know over in the U.S. they can be pretty harsh, so i would'nt get your hopes up.

It could depend if he "rats" anyone out, they will prob be willing to lessen his sentence if he snitches on someone, which that is totally up to him if he wants to go through with it.  Honestly for just over an oz, i doubt that he will have any jail time, but probably fines/probation/drug counseling so you should tell him to quit smoking until he is completely done with the justice system on this thing because they will probably test him at some point.
He might get a felony offense, but depending on his previous record and how he is represented in court and how cool the judge is what will decide it. 
And honestly for just an oz, they really arent all that worried about all that small time shit, they are really after the big birds.   It seems like the US might be softening up on MJ laws a bit, so its definately not the end of the world for your friend homie, it may seem really shitty at the time but if he deals in a timely manner with the system (pay fines on time, dont fuck up probation if he gets it) he will be fine.  If he has to go to drug counseling, tell him to say he only tried once and heard he could make money off it, but didnt know it was illegal.

he'll be tried as an adult deffinately.  Being that close to 18.  If your over 16 you usually get tried as an adult anyways

you took your parents car out for a joyride at 13 got busted then think the legal system is fucked for punishing you? your an idiot.

As for the guy busted for dealing. hes fucked. for sure he will be asked to help gther evidence against dealers above himself and if he doesnt, hes an idiot. the will lower his sentence. they will probably only charge him as a minor. if he had only seperate bags of different amounts, he could of bullshitted something. but a scale will get you fucked. My guess is major fines, community service, possibly house arrest and a probationary period where he will be tested frequently for drug use and if he is found to be still using or around illegal substances they will increase penalties to rehab centers or possible jail time. He will have major issues applying to schools for next year and applying for any sort fo professional job in the next few years.

He should be keeping his stash at home, and taking sales for product in advance. If he is going to carry a bag around, weigh and break nugs into a certain gram amount before he leaves and story everything in one bag. there is no need for a scale to be carried around if every bud has been weighed out and cut down to the same amount before he leaves the house. if hes going to sell keep a package of plastic seran wrap in his car and bag it in that shit.

Your buddy got busted because he was a careless idiot. too many people believe that law enforcement are going to go easy on someone because its "just weed". They makes examples of kids doing this shit so that others will never want to do it. Marijuana is relatively harmless but it is still sanctioned as a drug. Good luck to your friend. Hopefully from here on out he'll just use it and not deal it. Hes definitely not smart enough to sell.

Sucks, in canada my buddy got busted drunk driving, and with mad bud and scale and shit, got put on probabtion and got a curfew, got busted after curfew with tons of bud again, and now all he has is community service.

Yeah that sounds brutal, i got pulled over last night with half an O in the glove, and he got me out and in the cruiser and breath test..passed, much to his dismay haha 'looks like you're telling the truth' but apparently my tail lights are out, i was wonderin why that popo was sketchy and following me for bout 5 blocks..

same thing happened to my bros friend but he was somkign weed in his car we a bunch f his friend and got pulled over and the cop searched him and found bags on him and the cop was liek how old are you 18 and he was liek wow. these "scholarships" and whatever university's that have accepted him might/can reject him as well.

I'd say since i'm sure you'll find out anyways, but i feel like it's reallly not a good idea to post shit like that on the internet. How shitty would it be if colleges only found out because they googled his name and it showed up on NS? (highly unlikely i know, probably not even a legit concern, but i'm not gonna risk it.)

Obviously he was being dumb, he shouldn't have had that much shit with him etc, I certainly won't deny that. New info is that he was sparking a bowl when pulled over, so that's not gonna go over well. To make things worse, he smoked a bowl or blunt loaded with a bit of coke for the first time a couple days ago, so that's gonna show up on his drug test which is tomorrow I think.

To those laughing and making a joke of this, I hope you all have the experience at some point of your life of having a couple stupid decisions fuck up your life seriously, or at least learn some sense of humanity.

most of you dont know what youre talking about.
a friend of mine who was a huuuge deal dealer recently got busted, and he was caught with an amount of shrroms, pot, meds, scales and cash that makes your friend's o look like a dime bag, and chances are he wont be going to jail, and if he does it will be a couple months in a not so bad one.
i dont want to get your hopes up too bad but the chances of your friend actually going to jail are miniscule. as you said he's got a lot on his side like his age, his upper middle calss whiteness, and his high powered lawyer. tell your friend to keep his chin up, he'll make it through this for sure
