sry that there are no skiing pics but it was jus me and my buddy and we couldnt exactly ttake out our cameras as we were skiing.

yea i was so fuckin tired. here was my couple of days... tuesday wake up at 7 am to go to classes get out at 10 45 run errands with the fiancee all day till 6 when we went to go see the harlem globetrotters play. then at 9:45 pm i got on the road and drove 2 and a half hours to albany new york to meet up with my buddy. his stupid ass hadnt even packed yet so at 1 in the morning we go to walmart get power bars and drinks and a compass cus i couldnt find mine. go to sleep at 2:30 am wednesday. wake up 3:30 am wednesday and drive 5 hrs to the base of tuckermans. then hike another 5 hrs up 5,000 vertical feet to the top of tuckermans. that foto was taken with only 500 ft left to go so yea i was fuckin ripped lol. the snow wasnt deep at all but very smooth and nice. it was an awsome hour and a half ski down to the parking lot.

nah we didnt have to sign in or anything. and yea u take the same trail up as u do in the spring and summer.

and for all of u who say i look ripped or tired read my post about my couple of days and then tell me that u could do that and not look tired.

(3) Maybe allcaps wasn't needed (not that it matters), but neither is (a) writing the expression "LOL" followed by three exclamation points; (b) your non-use of capital letters (except for the "LOL"); or (c) your refusal to apostrophes. So why be a dick about it?

so thats cool that you were eleven and did it. and naw picnic rock wasnt there it was covered in snow. i aint even gonna come back and say anything negative to u cus

5000 vert to the top of tucks?? Its more like 3500 tops...

Not such a bad hike. Advice? Wait until spring when the trail up is relativly snow free. You can do the hike in about 2 hours...and its alot easier. It saves your legs for the hikes up and down the ravine.

the ski down to the parking lot is fun, but it took you 5 hours to climb? shit.
it took me 3 to get to lunch rock and then another hour to get to the top of the bowl

yeah i think he said 4 and a half but thats still a long ass time. Granted its much harder in winter. Even without skins or snowshoes i cant see why it would take that long.

unless u have avi gear and are trained you shouldent go in the winter. There is a reason so many people have died on tucks.

it really depends. some years it is but most it isent. By mid april the snowpack is ussually pretty stable.

yea you see the problem was that we took so much shit that we didnt need. i hiked out a tenet and sleeping bag (mind u its all the new lite weight shit and only a one man tent but its still heavy.) and we didnt even need snow shoes we tried to hike with em for a while but they jus ended up gettin in the way. so we had to strap those to our backs and hike with them. we made it to hojos in 3 hrs cause of the snow. i have heard that it is easier in the spring cus the trail to hojos isnt as steep. but as far as avi gear goes idk i would check the avi warning before u go up there and when u get to hojos take a sec to talk to the guy in the station right there before u go on. they are pretty cool about lettin u stage your shit at hojos so u dont have to hike with it. i think i know where lunch rock is but it was mostly covered with snow when i was up there so that wasnt much use to us. really excited to go back in april and see the difference between february and then. goin with like 4 guys so like i said if anyone wants to meet up feel free to message me.

yea well the left chute was in the shade by the time we got there and the wind was whipin good so there were some nasty wind chops. next time we go up we are gonna get on the trail earlier and ski the left chute and hopefully have time to do hinmans high way too. yea but the hike isnt that bad if your not a idiot and bring good gear for it. if u dont have the gear then defintly dont try it.

Ok...have to comment on this.

People like you are the reason people have died on washington...

Mandatory for any hike on Washington (summer or winter)

Winter jacket or fleece+shell
Change of clothes
A pack capable of carrying all of this.
Food for an extra day.

Thats a short list and pretty much only good for those spring days when there are tons of peop[le in the ravine. Otherwise? you want to be able to melt snow for water and have a bivy sack with a -20 bag in case you have to stay the night.

nice, me and a buddy skied tucks last march. It was a blast, steep terrain, awesome views, and while i was climbing up some dude at the top fell while trying to put his skis on and cartwheeled all the way down to the bottom(he was ok, missed the picnic rocks by about 15 ft.). Were going to try and ski the hillmans highway this april, it should be a pretty fun venture.
