i downloaded bittorrent and tried downloading a torrent and its like the torrent doesnt even start to download ...do i need to fix my fire wall or sumtin for it to start downloading?
try azures (its not the right spelling, i forget how to spell it). if your ports are blocked it can tell you that so you can figure out the problem. they take alot of time to start sometimes, but just make srue that the torrent you downloaded has alot of seeds (preferably more seeds than leachers), that should help as well. PM me if you have any more questions because i dont check out the media/arts forums much.
could be that the torrent only has like one seeder and hes just never online. bittorrent is alot like limewire: you need users to be online to download from. if only like 1 user is linked to that torrent you cant download it from him
Heres how bit torrent works.
Each file is broken up into a whole bunch of tiny pieces. The torrent file keeps track of what those pieces are and some other network stuff I think.
The torrent client (Azureus, Bitcomet, etc.) connects to other users who are sharing the torrent. There are two kinds of users Seeders and Peers. A seeder has the whole file. A peer has parts of the file. Your picks random pieces of the file to download from different seeders and peers. It picks random pieces so that there is a better chance someone online will have a piece of the file that you don't have. The more people you can connect to the faster the download will be.
