Scratch on bottom of my ski question

I got a scratch/gouge on my base about 2in. long and 1/8in. wide. Its not to the core though or anywhere close but it wont be waxed out and it goes sideways across the base. I think I got it when I fell on a big jump and I think it hit my other ski. But, my question is; Would it be smarter to fill it with P-tex now or wait because I am planning on selling them soon like ride them maybe one more time? Would the value go down knowing they have been filled or should I let them people see that it isnt that deep and let them decide to fill it or not?

definitely fill it in, it'll take like 2 seconds, just do it. Definitely wont decrease the value seeing as there wont be a gauge in the ski anymore.

all very true. If you have a shop do it, make sure they dont use the drip method, gun only!

shops will only use the gun to fill in after they do welds. Whenever they can they'll drip, or use the MRS, a machine that just puts a clear coat of ptex on the base.

alright Ill fill it. It didnt effect my skiing the rest of the day on it but I would rather have it filled anyway. It sucks it in the worst spot cosmetically because if I end up having to ebay them, its in the middle or the second "A" in amarda on my AR5s and people will see the black P-tex and get scared haha. Hopefully when I sell them people on here will jump on them

a little p-tex in a ski really shouldnt decrease the value that much, what decreases the value is major damage (blow edges, core shots) and drilling the skis multiple times.
Don't hide that shit though when you go to sell them, nothing is worse than lying to a fellow skier.

yes, but it must be used with a gun, or it turns out with black and brown spots from the burning.

I'd say wax it and if the wax starts cracking than pull out the wax and P-Tex it

if he's gonna take that much time he might as well p-tex it.

^yeah for sure it takes like 2 seconds and if whoever buys them skis at all they should recognize the black p-tex as a repair that wouldn't inhibit the use
All times are Eastern (-5)
