Aight, i found some rusted old 1.5 inch water pipes out near my wellhouse. They're rusted to hell, but i used some 60 grit sandpaper to get it all off untill the surface shines. The rails are nice, like 20 long and all, and have connector screws at the end in case you want to put a attachment to it. Anyways, the rust did make some divets in it, just some little 1cm holes. So. What the hell can fill those so the rail will be perfect?

get this stuff called JB Weld. its a two part epoxy mixture but its not clear epoxy like you would think. its a steel color and is known as liquid steel. my grandfather used it to fix a cracked engine block on his tractor lawnmower im sure it would work fine for your divets. just fill in the holes then sand it nice and flat. it might make the rail sticky though, im not too sure but its really hard thats why im suggesting you use it.
