is it nearly impossible to hike without skins in deep powder? I can attach my skis to my backpack, but skiboots in powder doesnt provide the best flotation...last year I hike a bit, but had to drag my skis and I was dead. no air in those altitudes...

not impossible, but in deep snow, you wont get far. very few people have the thighs and ass muscles to hike in actual powder. deep snow to me is like anything over your knees. get in over your shins and youll be fucking tiiiired. get skins if you can, theyll save your ass.
