so ive been editing with vegas 5 for a little while now, but ive noticed the files are HUGE after i render them. its only a 1 min long video, not alot of effects and a song, off a shitty mini dv camera. i put it in .avi at 720 x 460 (?) and it was 288,000 ish kb. i just found out how to change the resolution and i had it at 360 x 240 and it was still 281 kb. anyone know how to make it a smaller file without completely destrying the quality? it was so big it wouldnt even upload to youtube.
not too sure about vegas, because i have never used it, but you could always save it, then put it through windows movie maker, since its real simple to reduce the size in that.
"i just found out how to change the resolution and i had it at 360 x 240 and it was still 281 kb."
do you mean 281 000? causei f not 281kb is buttfuck nothing.
and yea obviously your files are going to be big your working with raw video footage...but my question to you is why the fuck would you want to compress it all in the first place? if you want to get it on the internet use moviemaker or something to compress it...it does a good job with compression and compatibility. working with video will eat up your hard drive dude trust me. our last years video took up atleast 30gb on my drive. had to move all those raw clips to dvds for storage
dvds arent just meant for video, they can hold around 4.4 gigs of data, so if you burn a dvd with just files, you can access them just as if they were on a cd.
