My friends skis are missing probably a few feet of edges on both skis and he uses them daily on the hill.

if you're out west your probably ok. if it's warm it's fine. i ski on my dynastar larose pros sometimes that are missing probably 4 ft of total edge and underfoot is worn to the core. if it's icy you're screwed though.

ha i too have laroses that Flynn gave to me for pretty much free as urbans. i just mounted them up and have ridden them for three days east coast so far, with 4-5 inches missing underfoot on one ski, and about 8 inches of terribly "repaired" edge on the other.
ice is horrible i just have to bomb it, but it actually works well. once i actually get new skis it should feel awesome cause i'll actually have grib and stuff.

you dont need edges for powder, although i have no clue how that helps you.

basically what everyone else said, if its icey it will suck, but if not then it doesn't matter at all. I skied tuckerman's last spring on my TMs with mad edge missing, in soft snow you cant really tell

why? you use all four edges turning, and when you slide rails you actually put more pressure on the inside edges of the skis, the more you spread your feet, the more pressure to the inside.
