like 2 years ago back when it was only us. no one cared about all the media attention and no one cared that whoever had a multimillion dollar contract. like the year of 1242 and ready fire aim. anyone else miss those days, and also back then this site was still a skiing site

there's no difference between what's going on now and four years ago when we were shooting for RFA and 1242. not sure what you're talking about.

i think the golden days were a few years before that when the sport was just taking off. think of how exciting the first couple x-games big air comps were compared to this year's slopestyle.

The 03 winter was apparently pretty bad for snow but I seem to really love all the movies from that season. RFA is pretty sick along with 1242. Also I really liked Focused. Also in snowboarding Video-Gangs was shot, which, even though it fell apart after a year, was a realy good movie. Also Robot Food made probably one of the best movies ever that season.

i like now really.becuase i can ski and i enjoy it, i think that in any sport, people will always have fondest memories of the "old days" . maybe people in 3 years wil make another thread, talking about the same fond memories you are about today.

i remember bacl in like 2002 the x-games slopestyle tie with cr and tanner. watching that made me start freeskiing. yeah i really feel as if the sport has become less fun. theres too much emphasis on clothing and all that now.

i know exactly what u mean man... just seemed to be more love and dedication in the sport... it has started selling out like snowoarding.... dont get me wrong the exposure is great but i miss being a skier when it was like "different" for a young person to be on anything but a snowboard...

they are gone man.....i think the next big thing is going to be Film the Idea with pep, andy and pollard. I haven't seen a movie get me pumped for skiing like propaganda, or Happy Dayz.
I just remeber skiing swtich was all you had to do for people to just go " Ohh my god what is he doing? Can he do that?" Like everybody was just soo pumped to try this new sport, and get on skis, and see what you could do. It was just soo fresh and new that it just felt like there was no limit to what you can do.
Even the skis were tough....i still have my vinny dorion 1080s. Like Lat still has his K2s....and just built like tanks. I just got such a great feeling when i rode.....didn't feel like i had to prove anything to anybody. Nobody had to wear XXXXXXXXXXXXL to be cool, just because you didn't have armada skis didn't mean you sucked at skiing. When you saw another dude rip, you just helped each other out. I miss those days.

theres no way i miss those days... I own RFA and now that i look back i see that there are tons of no name people now who are just as good as the pros then. Plus tricks like croutons, rockets, truckdrivers weren't even dropped. Wake up... the golden days are now

for sure these days were great. go to a small mountain and youll find that these days still exist. my cousin(who doesnt even rock twins and fuck yeah i ski with him) and i were racing down a blue long twisty trail run and ever person we went back yelled out (holy crap they're skiing backwards thats insane). and one time i was fuckin around in the "family park" and on this lil hit threw a 3, probably pencil steezed out, but no one heckled me and this lil kid came up to me in awe and asked me to teach him. go to smaller mountains gems (often have great terrain if you know how to access it) where people arent so full of themselves and your large obermeyer reverts are the baggiest thing on the mountain, youll find days like this, it's great to ski in that kind of environment

it only is if you let it be. things like that shouldnt impact how much fun you have while you ski.

when the park is full of kids trying to look "cool" how can one not help but feel as is this sport or art or whatever is being taken in the wrong direction. see, you misunderstand what i said. it was the fun they were having that drew me in, the fact that when cr got the same score as tanner, tanner was happy for cr. now, there is too often whining about judging and whatnot. everything is simply too cool for me. who cares if some kid falls? help him out. and if you don't believe that this sort o imperialism, this type of superior thinking, exists, then you have simply not been out enough.
