Help! learning guitar

ok so i know there have been other threads, but im lazy...

so i buy a guitar and amp from my friend for cheep and i attempt to teach myself using tabs. ITS NOT WoRKING! I can't seem to get my fingers to work. grrr. anyone know of any good sites on the internet or books that helped them???

learn basic C,G A Am and D chords, then work on switching inbetween them. it takes a while. if you can read tabs, the only thing holding you back is your fingers so keep on truckin.

also practise makes perfect. I used to think I'd never play any songs with the F chord in them cause it was too awkward, but I kept at it and it gets really easy. any more questions message me.

Yea learn your top of the neck chords before you start playing easy songs with harmonics. It'll take a while dude, it requires some patience and lots of practice, but it's rewarding.

well i took lessons for about 3wks, and it had you learn to read music, like sheet music, and practice notes, then it was like put them in songs, then you had a full scale, then got into chords, so you got practice moving your fingers, now i can play almost any tab, and i know like all the choreds

i reccomend taking lessons if u can. If not, just learn same scales and paractice playing through them as fast as u can. Learn a bunch of scales, not just major and pentatonic. After u become really comfortable playing in those scales, try to put different licks together. U should also learn basic music theory. Also, learn the scales on the whole fretboard, not just on 4 frets.

I agree with the guitartabs.cc do alot of simple finger work and chords and switching. Then when you go into harder stuff your fingers will move better. Best o luck kid.

yeah good luck. I taught myself to play years ago, and now I can almost do the stairway to heaven lead solo flawlessly :D

Recommended beginner songs to give you practice and help: Free Falling(petty), Time of Your Life(greenday), Brown Eyed Girl(van morrison), All for you(sister hazel). practice those for a bit until you can sign with them. Then move on to other tabs. peace!
