How far would you go if you hit a backcountry booter that was 5ft tall, 10ft wide and maybe about 6-8ft long? Also, tell me if I should make it bigger cuz we wanna go big off this jump

It depends on what the landing is but I am going to randomly guess 30-40 feet.

well seeing as the only things that really affect your trajectory are speed and launch angle.... your jump means nothing... but here's a rule of thumb... since you gotta have tranny into a jump, the higher angle you want to have, the bigger the jump. In an idea world, a 45 degree takeoff provides the maximum height to distance ratio, usually booting you the highest. But, you can't make it a steep booter on a flat landing, although a flat boot on a steep landing works fine. Then, all that is left is speed. the faster, the further you go.
In short, for anyone who got confused:
45 degree takeoff + max speed = going big.

well he already has the launch angle. he said it was 6-8 feet long and 5 feet tall. so you use tan^-1(5/6-8) and you get your launch angle. And i think he means at like a regular reasonable speed, if that size jump was in a park how far it would go. Im gonna say 30 feet.

my bad
anyway, since you said there is a big landing already, i would not make it that big, prolly 3 feet high only that way you can vary your height and distance greatly with different amounts of speed. if you make it bigger, then you wont be able to start small

sounds like you have an itty bitty short transition. might want to make it longer, and ultimately, taller

its usually pretty obvious where you are going to land when u build one but, if you need to ask you probably shouldnt hit it

ten feet wide is huge, bro
id make it a little higher/longer and less wide unless youre planning to be carvin off it like a motherfucker

send a sled with a bunch of snow on it from the start and measure how far it goes. You should be around that.

find out the angle of launch and the approximate take off speed and you should be able to figure that out. before that i can't help you

i say speed will determine how much distance youll go plus how much u pop off the lip. that always gives u an extra boost. goood luck post a vid on here of it

its not that hard youl know when your buolding it, if theres a long landing then it wont even be scary to gunea(sp) it and you cna just take it from there.

Uhhh if you wanna go big, and know how to go big I think you would know what you need to actually make a jump. its not hard

we built one that was about 6 feet and you could take it deep to 100 or so, it was only about a 50ft gap to clear the flat it all depends if theres a lip and how you hit it

make sure its a much smoother tranny than you think you need, that way you can come in hot without the kick sending your knees into your chest

yah depends on angle and heihgt and how much speed you want for your trick if you wanna do flips i wuold say you want it steeper

not true. your maths is sound but hardly any ramp in the world is perfectly flat, for example trying to apply tan/sine what ever to a spine or even a quarter pipe, it isnt gonna work, because it isnt flat all the way up the ramp.

good one bud.
but honestly it all depends on the speed, also if it is too big you will lose speed on it, bigger jump doesnt always mean more airtime. if you want to go farther make it a lower angle if you want it to kick you put it at a higher angle. i dont really know why i am explaining this to you...its pretty standard.
