booster straps are key. those pads work ok if you're shins aren't hurt but if you put them on after you're shins are fucked it makes the problem so much worse. the best advice for shins is to do calf raises whenever you think of it(stand flat footed and raise up on your toes over and over) this strengthens your calfs and helps the shin problem.

Shin bang is not a bone thing most of the time. it is because the mucles on your shin are effected by your tight calfs. like if your running and have shin splints. stretch your calfs and your be good. stay out of your boots for a while though until your totaly healed
