Official Eric Pollard is NOT washed up thread

he is the sickest skier out there

im gonna add a second post, to bump this thread.

eric pollard, is by far, the most influential skier in my eyes. he was the one back in the days of royalty and propoganda that opened my eyes to style. while for a while i tried to copy that, i have since to find that that is what makes him such an amazing skier: the uniqueness of his skiing. i think that is the thing everyone needs to realize. if you want to ski like eric, then dont copy him. its that uniqueness and freshness that we all love about him, and thats what each and every one of us needs to push within our own ridding. thats what we should aim to copy. when we stop bashing others style, and let it evolve, while progressing our own vision of the sport, thats when things will get interesting. while there will always be the people trying to find the absolute limit of what is possible on skis, there will also always be the people using skiing as an artistic medium to express themselves. both are great, and both are what we need to push.


and again, as for eric being xd out of the scene, i really dont think that will ever happen. hes still got a gooood 5-10 years of solid riding left in him. while he may slow down on his own with family and stuff, thats fine. he is such an influential member of the sport, that he will never be "left behind". when his prime days are over, he will still be involved, just like greats like glen plake, morrison, auclair, etc. dont worry eric, we love you!

There is no way the ski scene can survive with out Eric. He has pushed this sport to what it is. He may not compete and that is the “in” thing to do but look at the videos more and more park rat skiers are trying to ski switch in the backcountry or just backcountry lines in general. He is ahead of time. What he is doing now is what the main crowd will be doing in a year or so. The freestyle scene needs an older ski god to look up to. Yeah a lot of older skiers do get washed up but that’s because they can’t push the sport to new limits. Eric has the creativity to keep pushing skiing to new heights no matter how old he gets. 

Not only is he super progressive, skier but he's a progressive ski designer aswell.

I should not have called Mike Douglas washed up. That was  an incorrect statement, and I apologise. I let my frustration with the way that skiing is portrayed in the X Games transfer to an announcer, who tears down big mountains harder than I could ever hope to.

he just said that so he can be trendy and make a comeback. haha, jk. but on the comeback front, mik d is coming back in full force, he wants to defend his title at the open, so next year...maybe even some later this year, he was a little too rusty for the open.

dude hes my fucking hero and his his skis omg his skis

he is pretty into Line skis i think he makes them himself now hahaha there trying to keep costs down so them employ there skiiers to make there delaming skis

the other day me and my buddy martin were up at southsore soldiers camp, takin a quick break from coaching and digging and talking about the insane shit that is going on at the JOI.

i was like 'dude i wonder what pollard thinks about all this double flips and crazy shit'

martin says 'i doubt pollard even knows about it. i doubt he even cares. and i hope it stays that way'

I don't get it. Every year his segments get better....

dude pollard is the man hes so sick at everything especially in Pull, his self edit in that movie was crazy with the cork9's and steezy backcountry skiing, the man's the best at skiing period no one else excels that much in every aspect from backcountry to park exept him

every vid that i have ever seen of pollard, even if its just a clip, totally blows me away.

if he thinks he is washed up, then he must have no hope for the ski industry, because as far as I can tell the entire progression of the sport depends solely on him and his homies.

what we need is for pep and andy and pollard and all fo their like minded cronies to start their own company and put out some sick videos.

and what we need is for the NS community and the skiing community as a whole to go crazy over Idea so all of that happens.

but yeah, pollard still tears it up. he is one of my favorite skiers ever and still amazes me.

yea, pollard is still a god of our sport. kids still idolize you, that means you're not washed up. The Idea looks like it's gonna be sick, and you practically own Line. While you're still putting out sicker movies every year, and still the talk of the community, that means you're not washed up yet.

Lol, yeah.. wtf. I saw the title to this thread and was like WTF.. HES IN HIS 20'S STILL...

Shane McConkey and Seth Morrison are in thier late 20's or 30's even... and I dont see anyone saying that THEY are washed up... or ever WILL be washed up...

Hell... I dont even think that Warren Miller is washed up...

nevermind... hes like 90... haha.

hes not washed up at all hes amazing at skiing especially switch
