so i have read on here multiple times that helmets are designed to take one big impact and then they arent safe anymore. well my question is how do you know when your helmet is no longer safe to ride? i have fallen real hard on my head a few times this season and i just wanna know if i need a new helmet or not
I dont think theres a postive way of knowing...i mean u can go to the shop and tell them u smashed ur brains out but ur helmet looks fine and they would say u need a new one. but yes companys claim one good hit and thats it. only way u can no for sure is if u can c a crack in the foam...thats the only positive way of knowing, but im not saying that if its not cracked its safe...know i think of it...i just lost my thoughts but yeah
yeah that's what i've heard too... but i just stumbled upon a pro-tec helmet (the mercenary) which kinda has a polypropelene surface thats supposed to take several impacts and it'd still be good.. www.pro-tec.net , haven't used it myself but i just ordered one...
