Yah but really it depends on what you are gong to use them for. Alienware maked an awsome gameing platform, but a laptop limits the ability. If you just want something to surf the net and check emails save your money and get the dell. And personaly if you want to edit video and pictures the apple takes some time to get used to but eventually it turns out to be easier.
From what I hear they have pretty bad battery life too, but that's mostly because they use more desktop parts than the average manufacturer. If you want battery life, look into an IBM. Some people in my classes have them, and I've never seen them plugged in. They say that it lasts over 8 hours or something ridiculous like that.
yea man, ibm laptops are wicked nice. and god damn mac people!!! stop being so one sided. im sure the kid has used a mac before. some people just dont like them. not that they are bad, its just personal opinion.
but anyway, nah, alienwares are cool looking cases, and just meh computers. if your on a budget, i got a toshiba last year that for the most part ive been very happy with. its a beast of a computer.
but IBMs are very nice, dells arnt bad, but ive never been blown away by them. building your own is a great option too, its much cheaper.
dell sucks
i wanna get an hp an maybe look at ibm if ppl say they have good batterry life, somethin to do on the wayt to the hill if your goin on a trip
Not sure how this will help your decision, But I'm pretty sure 90% of people here haven't realized that Dell owns Alienware. They had the Alienware guys work on their XPS systems for them. That's why the XPS has a very Alien-esque chassis and case design.
go to newegg.com and put together your own computer. You will save money and you wont have to worry about the shady motherboards of dell and you won't get ripped off by alienware on a computer that really isnt that great, besides the "cool", if you can call it that, cover. If you need to know what parts to get spend some time doing google searches and reading forums and you should be able to figure everything out.
Only get alienware if your gaming. Thats the purpose of it and it doesn't rally work well for anything else. Plus Alienware use to be an independent and now has been aquired by Dell. Another good choice if you got the money go with digitalstorm.com there computers are sweet looking and fast as hell, but this is only if you want a laptop gaming computer. If you just want to surf the internet and use word processors and itune etc little bit of video go with a mac.
how would a gaming computer have problems running itunes, MS word, and firefox? haha. gaming computers work great for all sorts of high demand applications like video and photo editing, 3D modeling programs, etc etc. the only thing that might make them less valuable as an office tool is the lack of office software installed on them new.
jesus crist i hate mac people. i use macs ALL the time as a graphic design student and guess what, theyre not that great. and dont give me bullshit either about"oh you dont know the interface yet," or "your just not used to it". because thats garbage, i use both all day everyday, and guess what they're the fucking same so get the fuck over yourselves. you dont see pc users walking around like" i sooo live th pc life...." "pc's are so much better" blah blahblah, your not that cool.
a kid in my hallway has an alienware laptop and it is a piece of shit....i can't tell you how many problems he's had with it. and they were huge problems that involved him sending it back to them or they had to send him parts.
