Marker bindings with airpad

i just picked up some 04-05 rossi scratches as beater skis and i got marker m11 bindings for them because they were the cheapest i could find. the guy at the shop was raving abotu how they have the airpad shock absorption thing underneath and i havent noticed a difference. has anyone else actually had it help them or is it just one of those bullshit sales things to make their stuff sound sophisticated?

i've ridden with and without in the same day, no difference that i can tell.
