So after looking for antifreeze puffy's (XXL) for a long time I finaly got them last Thursday. I was super stoked to wear them Friday (yesterday). I also got the paratrooper jacket to go with them. So I was riding yesterday with the coat and pants and they were super sick looking and the most comfortable shit I've ever worn. So anwyay I was trying to do a slow grabbed 360 off a 40 footer. I had almost had it a few times and the third time I washed out and I was like whatever. So I skied down like 50 yards and looked down at my pants and there was this HUGE fucking tear on the inside left leg. I know my skis didn't cut it and my pole definately didn't get it. It wasn't even on a seem so I don't even know if I can sew it or whatnot. I don't know what to do about this. I'm gonna call Oakley and see if then can geta new pair for me because I am sure it was a defective pair of pants. It only tore the outer layer and didn't tear through on the inner layer of the pants. So what do you guys think I should try to do, because I doubt Oakley will be able to get me another pair of pants because they are like impossible to find. So if they can't get another pair should I just try to have somboyd sew them or what. It's like a 15 inch tear.
idk, I just figured if it was my ski I would have either felt it of it would have cut through both layers. If you guys say it happens all the time then I guess I can't argue with that. I was just pissed cause it was my first 3 hours wearing them and I was havin a good day until that happened. So should I try to sew them tegether or...?
yeah man, that stinks. Unfortunately it was your ski edge. Ski edges can be pretty sharp and if you move them quickly over a fabric it can cut it. I will say that I don't buy Oakley pants any more for that reason. Recently the fabric they have used it very waterproof and has good texture but lacks in the durability department. I had a pair of last years pants, rode them 1.5 days and had three or four small cuts that were noticable. So, I doubt they will warrenty the pants, but it is always worth a try. Good luck.
Ya I would just ski them but it is a huge fucking tear and the "stuffing" is going to come out of the hole and shit. So much for buying Oakley pants.....the coat is nice though. I'll probably end up selling the coat on here cause I won't really wear it with anything besides the pants. Has anyone here ever sewn up rips (just like really big ones) on their pants, and how does it hold?
If I do warranty them I'm telling them I'm a boarder, that way they aren't like oh it was totaly your fault (even though it probably was). Normally I wouldn't be as upset cause I could get another pair, but these pants are impossible to find and such.
i had a storm one piece and the same thing happend. I didnt cut it with anything, it just ripped. I think oakley has thing with rips. But i got it at backcountyr and they gave me a full warranty. just call oakley up and be like bitch warraty this shit.
Ya, I don't think they will either but I'll give it a shot. I expected rips and stuff, especially cause I got XXl. Just not this soon and not a 15 inch on the inside leg. Is it common for them to get cut up a lot in that area, cause I thought it would be mostly down by my boots.
its not common but like they said ski edges can be very sharp. i cut my hands every now and then edging skis at work(only made that mistake a few times before getting work gloves) and i dont even notice until i look down and see my hand bleeding.
#2- email photos to Oakley's customer Service email. Make sure email says things like "disappointed" and "expected better quality from a usually reputable brand" (Hint: if you're 15, you probably do'nt know what reputable means. Use words you understand!)
#3- when you get the form email back, call them like they tell you to.
#4- on the phone, don't get really mad, just get kind of mad. Make sure to get an RA number so you can send that shit back
#5- wait...wait...wait...eventually you'll get your pants back...they might even have been replaced or fixed!
i don't know, all my friend wears is oakley. so between him and his family i guess he has had about 10 outfits of strickly oakley stuff. i don't think its the brand, i have had 2 other kinds of pants (i think Ronin and Obermeyer or something) that had the same sort of thing happen.
I gotta say this guy is pretty right, Oakley sucks as far as getting ripped and torn up. I'd buy on of those real big denim patches that ar made for patching jeans and iron that on, or have it patched at a business like someone else said.
I'm gonna email Oakley today, I doubt they will do anything but I'll try, if they don't I'll have it stitched back together at a business, $15 isn't much considering I got these pants for $90 new last week.
pants get cut all the time from edges, you prolly didnt even notice it. Mine ripped this year. pissed cause they were new, but bring em to someone who knows how to sew. they can get some heavy duty thread and you should be good to go.
If Oakley blows you off, and you can't find anyone professional to fix them you can get this thermal tape stuff that is actually stronger than sewing on that type of material. If you put it on the inside of the material you probably won't even be able to see it.
lol you just made that thread too if you should buy them or not. that sucks. maybe just get them professionaly sewed back together w/ like white stitching or if they have that lime of a green thread as well.
dude if it happens down low, your not gonna feel it...you have plastic boots on. it happened to me actually just today also, but not on a 15 inch scale...only about two. I didnt feel a thing but noticed it in the lift line looking down. Shit happens, and beleive i know and hate that feeling
Ya fuck, I was super stoked to wear them for the rest of the season and shit too. I'm calling Oakley today if they are open. To the guy above me it wasn't down low, it was like a 15 inch rip on the inside left leg.
thats waht im gonna do wit the bottom of my pants.... at least for a while, thne im gonna try and find a patch, and just put a patch like almost completly around the bottom on my pant legs.
