I used the search bar already and the old deadbolt vs. px thread basically licked my balls. So I'm going to bring it up again.
I've just been shopping around for new skis, and debating on what bindings to throw on them. I've been riding rossi p12's (pivot heel) so I really dont have any experience with the new PX series. Here are the categories I'm looking at:
-Safety
-Durability
-Price
Pretty basic criteria for bindings huh? Preferably in that order too. Weight really isn't a huge concern for me either, and I could give a rat's ass how they look or if the paint chips.
I ride East Coast, 60% park, 40% all-mountain. My major concerns are good release during falls, but yet not eject mid mute grab, and something that can take the abuse of landing after landing on shitty snow.
Info on the PX is fairly readily available, but the Deadbolt is pretty elusive, considering not nearly as many people have it. What are your insights into this?

I have the 614 and they are solid as hell. The only problem is getting a shop to mount them.
I know around me there was only one shop that had the jig to mount them properly. call around and ask

agreed. pxs are terrible flat deck bindings. its all about screw location. pivots, turntables, they have a mount that is under the heel of the boot, not behind it. bindings like this are very popular, and quite frankly, they suck. with the screws under the heel, it allows the ski to flex naturally. more ollie power, better carves, etc etc. i never thought it did anything, till i rode some flat PXs and Salomon binders back to back with turntables. its vastly noticeable. if your concerned with the performance of your bindings (Cause trust me, they ARE NOT ALL THE SAME), you will not get either binding. get online and get some more pivots, or a pair of FKS 120s. the flex of the ski, as well as the boot retention is far better than either of the bindings your talkin bout. not to mention pivot heels put the rotation axis of your leg INSIDE your leg vs behind it, which is much safer and less likly to cause injuries. why look/rossi feel the PX is a better binding is WAY beyond me. ill be stocking up on turntables, and riding them until they come out with something better (a line pivogy system)

I was just looking for a new binding because, I like to keep the ones i have on my old skis. I wanna get more into urban rails and those are gonna be my beaters. So I i'd need to buy a totally new set up.

I have the deadbolt 614, super solid binding. It is very tough, good retention, etc. Never ridden a px12, though some people love them. I personally would never buy a salomon binding below 14 DIN, because those are all cheap plastic all the way through, and have terrible retention. I know from experience. The s914 and 916s are really solid though
