i was talking to my friend a few days ago and my friend suggested that i crank up my din and increase my forward pressure by moving up my heelpiece. what is forward pressure and what does it do? do i have to increase it wenever i tighten my din?
Fuck no dude, theres only one forward pressure setting that will work right for your size boot. Dont mess with it. If you want the binging to hold you in more on the forward lean then turn up your rear dins. But dont touch the forward pressure.
The pressure against the boot when its in the binding. You can tell how your forward pressure is buy stepping into your binding and seeing how close your boot heel is to the heel piece. They have to be pretty much able to touch.
thats not the textbook way to determine fp. its a good guide, but every binding manufacturer has a forward pressure indicator built into every binding. ast the tecs at ur hill or shop, theyll show u what it is for ur binding.
but the larger point is agreed apon - dont fuck with it. there is only 1 correct fwd pressure for ur boot sole length.
not true actually. it depends on what type of skiing you do. for example, the average consumer using look binders would want the forward pressure screw (the one in back of the mounting plate) even with the housing. for park/switch landings, you want it countersunk aboiut a 1/4 inch. this allows you to stomp shit without popping out, yet still keeping a lower din. that being said, i would not mess with the forward pressure unless you know wats up.
