freshman year of college all my roommate did was eat that protein powder shit and he smelled like the inside of an ass...
he would go pretend to shower because everyone told him he smelled like ass but he would just stand in there and come out completely dry and still smelling like a corpse.

You gotta excercise and workout out too. You can't just take it and then Eat pure crap and do nothing and except muscles or whatever your looking for in life.

its good in the sense that you get protien from it. protien generally used in muscle tissue. all those huge meathead bodybuilders you see have insane amounts of protien in their diet, thats how they develop the muscle from working out: protien.

For just getting ripped as shit, you need roughly one gram of protein per pound of body fat per day. Its actually alot harder to do than it sounds. most average diets are only about 100 g a day, so protein shakes and bars help alot to get the extra 50-100 g that you need. typically you should eat the bar/shake within a couple hours after working out. you muscles instantly draw from what you eat to start replenishing themselves, so the more protein the better. also eating one before bed help cause thats when alot of rebuilding takes shape, but then you also get fat by eating alot before bed.

they have high calories so make sure you only use them if you are trying to add some real muscle. you would probably do better to just load up on chicken, fish, and such. really high protein and low fats.

whey protein is a really good base protein for any athletic individual. it doesnt necessarily taste bad as there are many different brands as well as flavors. i recommend bodybuilding.com for any supplement needs. maxmuscle makes really good whey as well. if your look to really increase the results from your work outs, i would try n.o.xplode. it pumps more blood through your muscles and increases the stamina and endurance that you have while working out. thus letting you work out harder and longer which gives u better results. it also aides in recovery. creatine is a good supplement as well. it increases muscle vascularity, and muscle pump, as well as aiding in weight gain. i would recommmend a supplement regimen of creatine, n.o.xplode, and a digestive aide to help get it through your system faster. if u follow a solid workout program and take the supplements religiously i bet you would be able to put on 10 pounds of muscle in 6 weeks. taking supplements is not cheating it just helps you to get the most out of the work your already putting in. i weighed 145 before starting a hard fitness and supplement regimen and now weigh 175 with a Division I soccer scholarship awaiting me at oregon state in the fall. i know the supplements really helped me achieve my goals.

It sort of depends on your size. If your a real skin and bones kind of guy I would say try muscle juice. Ive taken Creatine in the past and I just didnt feel to healthy while taking it. That being said everyone I know that takes creatine loves it and you can see dramatic growth in there muscles for the most part. If you do decide to take creatine just make sure you buy a good pure type. Some of the cheaper ones have been known to have trace amounts of steriods in them. And about the Whey Powder I really don't know enough about it to add anything.

Some people feel like it is cheating others dont. Personally like I said I dont take it but i dont consider it cheating. You would really be amazed by the amount of people that are taking it these days. Also it is naturally occuring in your body, eating meat and fish gives you creatine to. But I can see why you think its cheating, your opinion not mine.

I think its cheating. I also think it's the easy way out. Becasue of American culture, (or canadian i dunno where youre from), we are always looking for the fastest way to do something. Why bother putting hard work into something when you don't have to do as much work and get the same result? Yes, you can be stronger in a shorter amount of time, but in my opinion, the mentality is changed. I can't even really explain it, but I will never use creatine EVER, and i the only thing i will ever use is pure whey protein powder, but i probably will never use that. Supplements just aren't healthy, you are raising naturally occuring substances in your body to unnaturally high levels, and in my opinion, it isn't right and is the easy way out. BYAHHH

If you just drink the protein, it's not going to do anything. It'll hurt more than help. Drink a protein shake either before or right after exercising to help with muscle fatigue and growth. You need to be eating right, too. Get all your fruits, veggies, and meats, just like mommy says. Good rule of thumb: if you eat a hamburger or the equivalent in meat, don't drink the protein drink too; you'll get an overdose of protein which isn't used and is stored as fat. I don't think you want that.

Yeah I'm from Canada and I agree 100 percent that both our cultures are looking for the easy way out. And I get what your trying to exlain about the mentality and everything. Thats how I felt when I took it for a couple weeks along time ago. It just did'nt feel like I was actaully doing it myself. But I just feel if someone needed to gain wieght fast be it for a scholorship or a high level sporting team they should take creatine if thats what they feel is needed. But your post is one of those comments that actaully makes you think about choicing to take it or not.

what the HELL are you talking about...there is nothing "easy way outish" about a protein powdered drink.
slap some ice, milk, banana, assorted frozen fruits in there and you've got yourself a mini-meal pre or post workout.
but i must agree with you creatine is just silly, the ultimate in esthetic excersice.

I gained like 10 lbs in 2 weeks, and 20 lbs in january with protein...then again, i've been using protein for quite some time now, just lately 2 scoops.

10 lbs in two weeks was probably a mistake on the scales, or insanely dehydrated when you first measured and hydrated to the max when you weighed in the second time, it's happened to me before too, but 10 lbs in 2 weeks is not real weight that's staying in your body
your colon was most likely full of a mad deuce aswell

You actually only require 1g of protein per KILOGRAM of body weight. so 1g per 2 pounds. The average diet has about 3 times that, if you have one meal with meat daily. Theres shitloads more protein in your diet than you think. Actually analyze your diet for a day, and figure out how much protein there is. Everything you eat has that listed on the side (amount of protein), at least in Canada.
