Ok so now im going to see if I can fix it.
Problem: It droped and hit concrete
Symtoms: worked for a little while then it went all screwy (keep skipping through songs, etc...then it would work for a minute or two. Finally I ended up reseting it and the folder with the "!" appered and I knew i was fucked then.
Now this leaves me with a couple options. I can buy replacement parts on ebay. Im looking at the logic board right now....what do you guys think the chances are it is the logic board?
I can take the iPod apart no problem but with the (!)Folder, Im not sure if its a harddrive issue or a logic board issue.
Any input?

to me it sounds more like a HD problem... like the folders can't be found hense the (!)folder but it could be either. If you've taken it apart then inspect for physical damage, parts that have come loose or aren't how thy should be. Is the screen working 100% fine? does the HD spin up at all(you can normally hear it or feel it slightly)? are there any strange noises coming from within?
are you looking at buying dead ipod bits? or new replacement bits? you might wanna talk to the guys on the apple.com forums, you might get a tech to give you a certain amount of advice.

when you turn on the ipod does the HD make a smooth sound/ feel or is it distorted. If theres any major clicks, or what feels like a physical bump/ skip then your hard dive is wacked

I don't have much experience with this, but I'd guess it's the hard drive. If it was spinning while you dropped it, it's very likely that you broke it. You could buy a replacement drive on ebay for around $80 and replace it yourself. It's not even hard to open the ipod case, you just need a guitar pick and a little patience.

Its most likely your hard drive...in fact im quite certain its your hard drive...and they are SUPER easy to take out and put in. i just did it my first try(it just unclips from a ribbion with tons of little rods) but im sure there are tons of videos online to show you. either by a HD off ebay or rob one from an old shitty ipod floating around. i just put a 1st generation ipod harddrive in a 4th generation ipod. easy job.
P.S TO EVERYONE HERE DO F---ING NOT SEND IPODS TO APPLE.
THEY RIP YOU OFF SO BAD AND I GAURENTEE ANYONE HERE WITH A BIT OF COORDINATION AND INTELLIGENCE COULD REPLACE BATTERYS OR SCREENS.
just search on google for video tutorials.
