so i dropped my invaders off at REI to have them mounted with rossi axials, but they had a lifter. so i was like i dont wan tthe lifter. and he comes out and says we have to mount it with the lifter. so i was like whatever fuck it. and did it anyway. so i check online today and turns out you dont need the lifters. so i called and he had already mounted them. not really a big deal, but it just pisses me off. and i bet he mounted them not center or soemthing as well.
sorry just blowing off some steam

thats lame..i think the only difference is that you would need shorter screws

Just take them off and mount them back up in the same holes with shorter screws, it's not rocket science. Just don't forget to glue and don't over torque.

good way to have your bindings pull out. it can be done, but id recomend a lil epoxy instead. itll be hard as fuck to get the screws undone, but it makes the remount much stronger. if you have access to an impact drill or something similar, youll be fine. and the shop guy was kinda right. you need to use shorter screws/grind down the old ones. while its very doable, its a pain in the ass if you have alot of skis to do

Do lifters honestly make that big of a difference. My PX12s have lifters in them, all I heard is that rails are easier, if I go through the effort of getting these out will I have a somewhat noticeable difference?

I had the lifters on my old ones, and I liked them more with the lifters. To each his own.

What difference do they make. Will I even feel a difference I just don't what 1cm height off the binding effects.

Lifters on those bindings really don't make much of a difference... I have them on mine and I don't care that much

yeah its easier to initiate a turn thats all ive heard. but i just like them better without them, better feel. and just the fact that he was too much of a douche bag to honor my request pisses me off

i noticed a big difference with and without them. they increase your leverage onto the ski. thats thier purpose, to make turning more effortless. while i didnt notice too much diff on rails, switch landings were much harder, due to the skis desire to get on edge and cut out.
and as for the impact drill, if you wanna pull bindings that are epoxied into skis, an impact drill or wrench is gonna be your best bet, or youll strip the shit outta the screws and have to drill the screws out.

very easy way to strip screw holes. you could do it with a some helicoils though.

I like to be as close to the snow as possible, and the lifters make me catch way more edges than I should.

On the flip side though, they make switch carving easier...there's always a trade off.

ewwwy lifters are gross. they also give you more leverage to rip your bindigns out, I'd get short screws and just take out the lifters yourself it really isn't a big deal. And the guys at REI must've meant that you couldn't do it with your screws, cuz they've done like 3 mounts for me all with rossi bindings without lifters.

you are dumb... if you want to get rid of your lifters take the bindings and lifters off, get shorter screws, and remount the bindings in the same holes with a dab of wood glue in the holes. This is how almost ALL shops mount skis. Mount your bindings again with a regular screwdriver so you dont strip the holes.

I hate lifters. I feel like my foot is to far from the snow, and I feel so much more in control without them.

whenever you mount a ski using the same holes, you heli-coil the holes. even if you use glue or epoxy, the threads that the first mount created would be considerably compromised. and as for the dude telling you it was necessary to use the lifters... i've had to tell people that before because i couldn't access the proper shorter screw. maybe that's why he did it, not because he thought that he must mount with the lifter.
