Hey can anyone tell me how to move my entire premier project to an external harddrive?
I need to move it all off my main computer to re format and I still need it all to work together properly. Kinda hard to explain, but there is a good 40 Hours of footage all cut up named etc that i dont want to have to redo just because i moved it across computers.
Any help at all with this would be greatly appreciated etc. Sorry if the question seems stupid but i really ont want to fuck this up. Cheers

well you should just copy and paste it...so it is still on your main hard drive if it doesnt work out on your external.
anyways, if you copy all the video files that it is based on, copy your main .prproj (or whatever it is) file, and copy the "conformed audio" out of its folder all onto the external hard drive, it should work...then just change the audio and video files so they point to the files on the external, not your regular HD.
that should work.

Ok this sounds cool. How long will it take me to re direct all the files so they are pointing at the ones on the external...? it sounds time consuming. thanks for the help so far tho.

you just need to make sure that you includE EVERY FILE that you had on the permier..otherwise when you open it the files will be missing...thats including titles etc, songs everything, and for one the premier file. yeah thats about it

haah yikes thats a huge job. your going to have to move the entire folder that everything is in. your also going to have to change the destinations because theyre mapped into premiere and if the destination isnt the same its going to sya media not available. its a big job dude...

id say keep it all in one folder.. then save the project.. move it to the external.. then open the project from the external.. it may be missin the files but once you select on it will find the rest.. ive had to do that before.
