Anyone tried them out? They were at the ski show this week so i gave them a try... Basically my opinion ( and the one of the guys I was with) was these skis are like going 10 years back, no edge hold, no life, not fun at all.. anyone else?
I'm totally sitting on the other side of the fence. The woodcore design takes any woodcore design done in the passed and pushes it far beyond any of the qualities I have seen out of most synthetic *or* wood core designs. Due to this, the tortional rigidity is very good, even on the Goliath. I took the fatty out on the crud at Brighton during the OR show and it held an edge very well, regardless the speed. As for no life in Movement skis?? Are you sure you were skiing Movement?? The brand makes their skis for the advanced to professional skier... maybe the problem wasn't the skis. Granted, I have heard that they perform much better at speed, could this have been your problem?
Nope, just picked up a set of Mvmt Gladiators this year and joined up with the site today. Looking for some feedback on Scarpa and whatnot before I go looking for new gear for next season. Figured I'd back the skis I bought when people slander them without any technical backing...
I've tried Sparks, Joysticks, Kamasutras and Gladiators.
The sparks are shit for freestyle as they dont have a freestyle sidecut, its too far back. They are so light though.
Joysticks are incredibly light. Kamasutras are light and good stiffish flex. Gladiators are really light.
Basically they're all light. But..... the construction is very poor. They just feel tinny and plasticky and they just dont hold an edge at any kind of speed. For instance I skied my 06 scratch FS and the Gladiator in shallow pow and the scratch was better.
Got a set of Vist 614s with the Gladiators and they've prereleased a couple times, even when maxed. Not a big fan. I think Movement's switched to Look for next year.
From speaking with the US Rep and N. American Director of Sales & Marketing they've expanded successfully into the US this last year and focus more on big mountain freeski. They also have a few solid P&P models. Curious, who's your friend from the Ontario region? I might know him. Blue Mtn?
